POCKET DEVICE FOR NAIL CARE Filed Oct. 30, 1928 2 Shuts-Sheet 2 Patented Aug. 26, 193d UNITED STATES AUGUSTE EDMOND ADAM, OF HOT JILLES, FRANCE rocxn'r nnv'rca sort mm. AM:
Application filed October 30, 1928, Serial 1T0.
The present invention relates to pocket-devices for nail-care and consists in a device containing, in a very reduced volume, the diiierent parts necessary for the care of nalls,
such as the tools, the olishing leather and the nail-paste situated in an appropriate basin.
The device consists of two arts, one part forming the cover and the ot er part being provided with the recesses and the like, needed for the diflerent tools, the polishing leather and eventually for the paste. .4
. These two parts are either pivotally connected or with aid of hinges. In the first case,
looking in the closed. position is obtained by a dove-tail mitre producing jamming between both parts and assuring the connection. Ac-' cording to a modified embodiment, the two parts, cover and container, are connected to each other by any means and the paste-box is situated in the part forming the cover.
The drawings appended, to which reference will be made show by way of examples several embodiments of the invention.
In the drawings:
F ig. 1 illustrates the first embodiment showing the device for nail-care in elevation;
Fig. 1 is a detail elevation showing the construction of the member 4 and associated parts;
Fig. 2 shows the device seen from below, the nail-file and the skin-shifter being drawn outwardly Fig. 3 shows, in a view seen from below, the pivotal arrangement and the way of placing the difierent parts of the device and of its accessories;
Fig. 4 shows an embodiment of the device comprising sliding tools;
' Figs. 5 and 6 show a device, whose pastebasin is provided in the part forming the cover. The device according to Fig. 1 comprises two elements. The upper part 1 serves only for closing, and is stopped by a dove-tail mitre 9; the lower part 2 comprises all elements destined for the care of nails. Recesses 5 are established in this part for plac ing therein the nail-file 7, the back-shifter 8 for the skin and the basin 6 receiving the 816,026, and in Belgium December 81, 1927.
nail-paste. In the lower part are fixed the chamois-leather 10 for polishing by *means of a ring 3, so as to permit an easy removal of the leather.
The nail file 7 and the skin-shifter 8, are displaced in the same manner and by the same means as the blades of a pocket-knife. The pivoting is obtained by means of a pin 4 serving for the articulation.
According to the embodiment shown in Fig. 4 the nail-file 7 and the skin-shifter 8 are mounted slidably and are acted upon by buttons 11, 12 moving in slits 11', 12. The basin 6 is hollowed, as previously, in the lower part of the device, viz. the one rbntaining the chamois-leather.
According to embodiment shown in Fig. 6, both parts, the upper one 1 and the lower one 2 are assembled by means of screws 25 or any other means permitting to attain the same purpose.
The upper part 1 is hollowed on its outer face so as to present a cavity 6 covered by means of a small cover 26 mounted on a pivot 27 and provided with an embossed part 27 or the like for the button 28 so as to maintain the cover in its closed position.
Both pieces 1 and 2 are hollowed on their opposite and facing sidesso as to permit therein the placing of thetools previously referred to.
In both cases the chamois leather 10 is attached to the outer face of the lower part 2.
The small cover 26. can be mounted so as to open in the way of a tobacco case or by sliding.
To the tools cited above, scissors 30 can be added, attached pivotally as the other tools 7, 8, 23.
It is obvious that the embodiments described and represented do in no way limit the scope of the invention permitting the most manifold deviations of these embodiments both withregard to the details. as to the general arrangement of the device, without departing from the scope of the invention.
The device can be established either in metal or in any other appropriate material.
What I claim, is:
1. In a pocket device for the care of nails,
a case consisting of two parts pivotally connected together the axis of the pivot extending transversely throu h said parts and being at right an les to t e axes of said parts,.
one said part eing a lisher and serving to contain the tools an accessories, such as the nail paste, and the otherfiqaart forming a cover and a handle for the Polisher.
2. In a pocket device for the care of nails, a case forming a polisher, tools arranged in the case and permanently 'movably attached thereto for arrangement therein or displacement therefrom into working position, and a cover for said case pivotally connected thereto the axis of the pivot extending transver'sely through said parts and being at right angles to the axes of said parts.
3, In a pocket device for the care of nails, a case forming a polisher and having on its inner side a receptacle to contain paste, and a cover connected to the said case by an articulation, one of said members having grooves 011 its inner side, implements slidably mounted in said grooves for movement thereto or for projectilon therefrom for use, and means to operate said implements.
In witness whereof I afix my signature.
AUGUSTE EDMOND ADAM.
