This invention relates to improvements in ingot molds or casters (andhas, for its object the provision ofsuch mold composedjof two angularly shapedv sections, a bodysection` anda door-section. .iThese sections'are so related to each other that they forma rectangular cavity, two, sides of which are formed by'each sectionffthe m'old. i This apparatus is composed essentiallyof two sections, an angularly shaped body section indicated by the numeral 15 whichrhas inone corner thereofa ratchet 25 and a door section 7.
In this body section there is awater space5 indicated by the numeral', whichhas an inlet orifice 4 and an inletpipe 4a.' There is leading from this water-space an outlet orice 5V which leads into an outlet pipe 5a. The other section of the apparatus constitutes a door and :is indicated by the numeral 7.

The points where the hingesare pivoted to each other are indicated by the numeral 12.

There is also arranged on the door a suitable number of lugs 14, to be engaged by cooperating `members on the' body forV the purpose "of locking the door to the body. The cooperating members on thebody are the` kclamp levers 15 pivotedto the bodyat the points indicated by the numeral 16.
The parts of thelevers immediately enga ing .the lugs v14 arethe hook members 1 For the purpose of engaging the lugs 14 `uponthe release of thehookmember. 17 there are formed, on the clamp levers lips 18. These lips cooperate with the hook members 17 to form a seat' for theplugs 14. 1These Flips are so positioned that when the clamp levers 15 are thrownV to disengage thefhooks 17 f fromftheflugs 14:,` the lips 18 willengage the lugs 14 and partially open the door. After the door is thus partially opened it may be completely opened by the handle 13. The outer ends of the clamping levers have attached thereto a connecting link 19. This link is pivotally attached to the clamping levers by means of bolts 20. The purpose of this link is to connect the clamping levers so that on the operation of one lever, all the clamping levers will be operated so that each one will engage a lug 14,- or be disengaged therefrom by the same operation. For the purpose of operating the clamping` levers there is attached thereto, at the pivot point between one of the clamping levers and the link, a handle 21.
The lower part of the mold is closed so that when the body and the door are fastened, as shown in Figures 1 and 3, the metal may be poured into the upper end, which is open, and will be retained in the cavity formed therein since the lower part is closed. When the metal has been poured and the ingot cast, the levers 15 are released from the lugs and the door is partially opened because of the lips 18 engaging the lugs 14.
For the complete opening of the door the handle 13 is grasped and the dooris swung entirely open. When the door is thus opened the ingot is exposed on two sides, leaving only two sides in engagement with the body of the mold. And since these two sides are at right angles to each other it is easy to remove the ingot from the body. In fact, the ingot is in a condition to drop therefrom as soon as the door is completely opened.
In a mold constructed of two angular parts cooperating with each other to form a rectangular cavity, the ingots cast therein do not stick to the mold but are readily released therefrom when the door is open, and no prying or jolting are necessary to get the ingot loose from the mold because an ingot cast in a mold of this kind has the same thick ness throughout its whole length.
I desire to comprehend within my invention such modifications as may be clearly embraced within my claims and the scope of my invention.
AHaving thus fully described my invention, what I claim is new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In an ingot mold, lan angular shaped body member, and a door attached to said body member and forming therewith an ingot cavity, said body member beingv provided with water space having an inlet and outlet.
2. In an ingot mold, an angular shaped body member, a doorv attached to said body member and forming therewith an ingot cavity, said body member being provided with water space having an inlet and an outlet, and means for locking the door to the body member. j Y 'y 3. In an ingot mold, anV 'angular-shaped body member, a door attached to said body member and forming therewith an ingot cavity, and means for locking the door to the body member.
4:. In an ingot mold, an angular-shaped body member, an angular-shaped door attached to said body member and forming therewith an ingot cavity, and means for locking the door to the body member.
5. In an ingot mold, an angular-shaped body member, an angular-shaped door attached to said body member and forming therewith an ingot cavity, said body member being provided with a water space, and means for locking the door to the body member.
6. In an ingot mold, an angular-shaped body member having'door seats thereon, a door attached to said body member and adapted to engage said seats, and means to lock said door in engagement with said seats to form with the body member an ingot cavity. v y
7. In an ingot mold, van angular-shaped body member havingvdoor seats thereon and a water space therein, a door attached to said body member and adapted to engage said seats, and means to lock said door in engagement with said seats to form with the body member an ingot cavity.
8. In an ingot mold, a body member, a door for said body member forming therewith an ingot cavity, lugs on said door and clamp means on said body member, said clamp means including lugengaging locking means, and means on release of said locking means to engage the lugs to partially remove the door from the body member.
9. In an ingot mold, abody member, a door for said body member forming therewith an ingot cavity, lugs on said door, clamp levers on said body, hook means on said clamp levers to engage said lugs to hold the door to the body member, and means on said clamp levers adapted as the hook means are released from said lugs to engageA said lugs to partially remove the door from the body member.
10. In an ingot mold an angular-shaped body member, an angular-shaped door for said body member forming therewith an ingot cavity, lugs on said door, and means on said body member to engage said lugs to lock the door tothe body. member and adapted on release of the lugs to further engage the lugs to partially remove the door from the clamp levers to engage said lugs to lock the door to the body member, and means on said clamp levers to'engage said lugs on the release of the hook means therefrom to parially remove the door from the body mem- 12. 14. In an ingot mold, a body member, a
door attached to said body member forming therewith an ingot cavity, lugs on said door, clamp levers on said body member, hook means on said clamp levers to engage said lugs to lock the door to the body member, and a common operating means or said clamp lever whereby the hook means are engaged with the lugs or disengaged therefrom.
15. In an ingot mold, a body member, a door for said body member forming therewith an ingot cavity, lugs on said door, clamp levers pivoted to said body, hook means on one end of said clamp levers to engage said lugs to hold the door to the body member, means on said clamp levers adapted as the hook means are released from said lugs to engage said lugs to partially remove the door from the body member, and a link connecting the other ends of said yclamp levers whereby all the'levers are operated in unison.
16. In an ingot mold, an angular-shaped body member, an angular-shaped door for said body member forming therewith an ingot cavity, a ratchet located in one corner of said angular-shaped body member, lock means on said door, coengaging means on said body member, and common operating means for said coengaging means.
