Description
April 15, 1930. c, PARTELL 1,754,368
BLOTTER HOLDER Filed Dec. 29, 1928 INVENTOR. F1750 C 'PAFTELL Patented Apr. 15, 1930 burrs T FE-ICE nan-n 1c. *PARTEIEL, or LEWISTON, MAINE IBLOT TER HOLDER Application filed December 29, 1928. Serial No. 329,121.
This invention relates toblotter holders and more particularly to that type embody ing a holderbody having a "longitudinally convex surface upon which a blotter is to e beheldfthe body being provided with a handlevthereby the device may be readily manipulated inapplying-the blotter to the surface 'tobe blot'tedpand one of the objects of the present invention is to provide an extremely losimple andin'expensive means for retaining and securingin place :the ends of the blotter "sheet'so that the sheet will be held in snug :CKJIlttt-Ct'Witll the convex'surface of the blotter Another objectof the invention is to provide a blotter holder inwhich the retaining means fortheiendsfof the blotter is devoid (if any pivoted or other moving parts which would be "liable to become disarranged, each retaining member being formed from asingle strand of resilient wire and assembled with the'body of thebldtter "holder by a simple arrangement insuring 01": a stable and secure connection of the member with the holder body.
While the accompanying drawings and the description which is to follow, constitute a disclosure of the preferredembodiment of the invention, it will be understood that va rious changes may be made within the scope of what is claimed.
In the accompanying drawlngs:
sectional view illustrating the manner in which the ends of the blotting sheet are anchored;
Figure 6 is a fragmentary bottom plan view of one end of the top member orcap section of the body of the holder.
planes. prises a topsection 4; which is united to'the The device embodying the invention comprises a bodymember 1which is -preferatily of wood and which has a fiatupper side-indioated by the numeral 2 andhas its under side,
which is indicated by the numeral 3, convexly curved from endito end,'.the side faces of the body preferably occupying parallel vertical The body of the device further comliat upper side 2 of the bodyl, preferably by adhesive, and which is-provided, centrally,
From the foregoing description of the invention it will be evident that a blotter sheet of the proper dimensions may be readily disposed against the longitudinally convex under face 3 of the body member 1 of the holder and, by slightly springing the loop comprising the bight 8 and side portions 9, of the clips, outwardly, by engaging the finger nail beneath the bight of the respective clip loop, the corresponding end of the blotter sheet may be engaged between this portion of the clip and the longitudinally convex under face 3 of the body 1. The clip, as will be noted from the drawing and the foregoing description of the invention, is anchored in such a manner that it is not liable to become in any Way displaced and, inasmuch as it does not embody any movable part, there is no likelihood of disengagement of the end of the blotting sheet from either clip and therefore the sheet is securely retained in place snugly extending over the under surface 3 of the body member 1 of the holder.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
1. A blotter holder comprising a body member having its under side convexly curved from end to end, studs upon the upper side of the body member, and resilient clips at the ends of the body member each includin spaced side portions and laterally directed ends engaging the studs at the respective end of the body member and a loop including side members constituting angularly directed extensions of the first mentioned side portions, and a connecting bight, the side portions and bight of the loop bearing yieldably against the said under side of the body member at the ends thereof and constituting means for holding the ends of a blotter sheet when such sheet is disposed in surface contact with the said under side of the body.
2. A blotter holder comprising a body member having its under side convexly curved from end to end, studs upon the upper side of the body member, resilient clips at the ends of the body member each including spaced side portions and laterally directed ends engaging the studs at the respectiveend of the body member and a loop including side members constituting angularly directed extensions of the first mentioned side portions, and a connecting bight, the side portions and bight of the loop bearing yieldably against the said under side of the body member at the ends thereof and constituting means for holding the ends of a blotter sheet when such sheet is disposed in surface contact with the said under side of the body, and a top member secured to the upper side of the body membe' and having recesses in its contacting fac accommodating the clip side portions ano their laterally directed ends and also the said studs.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
FRED C. PARTELL.
