This invention relates to a toy wind mill adapted to be supported from a window sill or the like, for the purpose of furnishing power within a room for the operation of toy 5 mechanisms of various descriptions.
The device is simple in construction,"and so arranged that it maybe readily projected from a window in position to be operated by the wind, without permitting ingress of air into the room, and when so positioned will operate effectively to present the wind mill bladesto the wind, and to transmit power through suitable shafting to a pulley located inside of the room.
Further objects and details will appear from a description of the invention in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein,-

Fig. 3 is a sectional detail showing the method of mounting the wheel, and the gearing associated therewith.
The wind mill, asV shown, comprises a bladed wheel 10, the blades of which center in ahub 11 which is extended inwardly to afford a sleeve 12 terminating at its rear end in a beveled gear 13. The sleeve is mounted upon a shaft 14 which extends outwardly from a swivel head 15 rotatably mounted upon the upper end of a vertical post 16, the lower end of which is socketed in the outer end of a horizontal supporting frame 17. Inwardly projecting. from the swivel head is a bar 18 carrying a tail or steering blade 19 for holding the face of the wheel toward the wind.
The beveled gear 13, which is associated with the wheel, meshes with a beveled gear 2O Vmounted upon the upper end of a vertical tubular shaft 2l, which surrounds the vertical post 16 and is rotatable thereon. The tubular shaft 21 near its lower end carries a downwardly facing beveled pinion 22 which meshes with an outwardly facing beveled pinion 23 rigidly mounted upon the outer end of a horizontal shaft 24, whichis journaled within the frame 17 and extends inwardly beyond the inner end thereof. shaft at its inner end carries a grooved pulley wheel 25 adapted to mount a band or belt for transmitting power to mechanical toys of various descriptions.
The frame 17 comprises a pair of spaced side rails 26-26, separated at each end by spacer blocks 27, and separated in t-he middle by a cross bracket 28 which serves as an intermediate journal mounting for the shaft 24, which shaft is also journaled through the rear spacer block 27, and the forward end of the shaft is preferably journaled within the forward spacer block 27, so as to aord the necessary rigidity in mounting. 1
A sleeve 29 surrounding the shaft 14 also serves, in conjunction with a headed screw 30, to properly position the wind wheel and parts connected therewith, allowing the same to freely rotate upon the shaft 14.
As shown in Fig. 2, the device is mounted u'pon a window sill 31, and in order to firmly support the frame, exteriorly of the window, a block 32 is fit-ted beneath the frame at this point. It is also desirable to provide filler blocks 33-33 on each side of the frame, to fill the space immediately beneath the lower sash rail 34 of the window, which is necessarily lifted to permit the frame to be positioned. Additional support is afforded to the frame by the provision of a hook-shaped clip 35 which, as shown in Fig. 2, engages the inner edge of the window sill, so that when the frame is projected outwardly and the sash is lowered into contact therewith, the device will be held in rigid position, and the spaces adjacent to the wind mill frame protected against ingress of drafts.
y In use, when the wind mill is set up in the manner indicated, the wind wheel will swivel upon the vertical post 16, thereby presenting its face toward the wind at all times. The gearing arrangement is one which permits the wind wheel to adjust itself to the direction of the wind without interfering with the transmission of power through the beveled gears, and to the shaft carrying the pulley wheel 25. The arrangement thus provides a simple and convenient means for transmitting wind power to the interior of a fi pulley, for imparting rotation to the pulley.

In a toy wind mill device, the combination of a wind wheel provided with a tail' blade, a vertical mounting therefor, a horizontally extending frame upon which the vertical mounting is supported, said frame being adapted forV support upon the sillof a window, a pulley located at the inner endof the frame, power transmission connections between the wind wheel and they pulley, for imparting rotation to thepulley, said power connections including a vertical tubular shaft, a horizontal shaft eXtending through the frame and mounting the pulley, and beveled gear elements between the wind wheel and the tubular shaft, and between the vtubular shaft and thev horizontalshaft.
3. In a toy wind mill device, the combination of a wind wheel, a tail blade associated with the wind wheel, a fixed vertical post upon which the wind wheel and tail blade are swivelly mounted, a horizontal frame upon the outer endof which the vertical post is supported, a horizontal shaft jour= naled within the frame and carrying ka pulley wheel at its inner end, and power connections between the wind wheel and the horizontal shaft, for imparting rotation to the latter. f
4. In a toy wind mill device, the combination of a wind wheel, a tail blade asociated with the windV wheel, a fixed vertical post upon which the wind wheel and tail blade are swivelly mounted, a horizontal frame upon the outer end of which the vertical post is supported, a horizontal shaft journaled within the frame and carrying a pulley wheel at its inner end, and power connections between `the wind wheel and the horizontal shaft, for imparting rotation to the latter, said power connections including a' tubular shaftrotatably mounted upon thegverticalvA post, and beveled gearing between the wind pulley wheel located at the inner end of the frame, inside of the window, and power connections between the Wind wheel and the pulley, for imparting rotation to the latter.
6. In a toy wind mill, adapted to be used in connection with a window sill and a 'ver-` the wind wheeland the pulley for imparting4 rotation to the latter. 4
