This invention relates to machines for spinning yarn, andmore particularly to I means for automatically resetting the builder bins haslbeen'completed. p In such spinning machines, means is provided for gra dually shifting the locus of movementofthering rails} upward asthe bobbins are filled, so that the ring rail is rel'o' ciprocated' at itsupper limit of movement when the windingof a set of bobbins is'com pleted. It is the general object ofmy invention to *2?) provide improved automatic mechanism for resetting the builder'mechanism of a spinning frame and for'placing the mechanism in condition for renewed operations.

' Referringto the drawings, I have shown a portion of a spinning frame 10, on which a'builder lever 11 is pivotedto swing about a hollow stud 12 (Fig.2) firmly fixedin the 4b framelO. A chain 20 is secured to a disc 21 '(Fig. 3)
lever 11. A worm gear 24 is secured to the disc 21 and rotates therewith. The worm gear 24 is engaged by a worm 26 fixed on a wormshaft 27, rotatable in hearings in the builder lever 11 and having a ratchet wheel 30 secured to the front end thereof.
A pawl 31 (Fig. '3') is mounted on an arm 32 pivoted to swing about the axis of the worm shaft 27. The normal position of the arm 32 relative to the builder lever is determined by'an adjustable stop screw 34 (Fig. threaded in an ofiset projection 35 of the builder lever. The arm 32 is moved by gravity against the stop 34 when not otherwise actuated.
When the builder lever, approaches its lower limit of movement, the arm 32 is engaged by a stop or abutment 40, adjustably secured in a slot 41 in a stand 42 secured to a cross member 43, which in turn is supported by the frame 10. As the builder lever is moved further downward,thearm 32 swings upward about the axis of the shaft 27, turning the ratchet 30,.and partially rotating the worm 26 to wind down a small portionof the chain 20.
This action takesplace intermittently. at every downward movement of the builder lever, and the amount of feed is so proportioned by adjustment of the stop screw 34 that the winding down of the chain 20 will correspond to the desired upward building of the yarn on the bobbins.
The parts thus far described are, in general, ofthe usual construction. It will be understood that the chain 20' is connected at its upper end by suitable levers to the usual lifter rods of the ring rails.
My invention relates particularly to the provision of improved mechanism for rolees on the rod 65- tatable in the hollow stud 12 previously mentioned. A third bevel gear 56 is secured to the opposite end of the shaft 55 and is engaged by a bevel gear 57 on the lower end of a driving shaft 58. The shaft 58 is continuously rotated from any convenient part of the'machine.

The operation ofthe parts thus, far described isas follows? The intermittent feed of the ratchet wheel 30 by the. pawl 31 rotates the work shaft 27 as indicated by the arrow'in Fig. 1, and gradman moves the nut 51 rearward. Eventually, the beveled end portion 76 of. the arni7 5 engages a roll 77 on the endoffth'e latch 68 and raises the latch, thus releasing the yoke member 64, which immediately moves rearwafrd under the influence of the spring: and causes the clutch member 62 to engage the rotating clutch member 60. The worm shaft 27 is thereupon rotated in the opposite direction,

During this rewinding of the worm shaft 27, it is essential that the pawl 31 be out of engagement with the ratchet 30,'and forthis purpose I provide a rod 80 (Fig. 1) slidable in a bearing 81 on the builder lever and provided with a cone-shaped head 82 at its front end. At its rear end, the rod 80 is threaded v 75 V to receive nuts 83 disposed at each side of an arm 84 projecting laterally from the sliding rod 65 on which the yoke member. 64: is mounted.
