Description

Nov. 19, 1929.
l. M. PEASE OBESITY BELT Filed Jan. 5A 1928 Patented Nov. 19, 1929 CORPORATION OF OHIO oBEsrrY BELT v Application filed January 3, 1928. Serial No. 244,113. l
My invention relates to obesity belts and has particular reference to the provision of a belt of the type mentioned, wherein provision is madeVv for its suitable adjustment so as to be adapted to the person of the wearer.
Obesity belts of the type to which the present invention refers, are constructed principally of elastic fabric and are provided with non-elastic side straps by means of which the same are secured and properly supported upon the person of the wearer so as to perform the functions for which intended. As heretofore constructed these side supporting straps have been rigidly secured to the rear portion of the belt, and adjustably secured by buckles upon the front side portion of the belt sothat the straps may be suitably tightened. It has been found, however, that by the use of such rigidly vsecured straps, the same arenot permitted to adapt themselves to the ligure of the wearer, andthe belt cannot, therefore, be properly and comfortably adjusted.
The principal object of the present invention, therefore, is to provide in a belt of the type mentioned side straps which may be adj ustably secured at the rear of the belt so that the alignment of the straps upon the person of the wearer may be suitably varied to attain the desired fit and comfort. Other ob- -iects of the invention will appear from the following detailed description thereof.
In the drawings:
Figure l is a side elevation of a belt constructed in accordance with this invention.
- Figure 2 is a rear elevation of a portion oi said belt. Y v
The numeral l designates a belt constructed of the usual elastic ',fabric;V said belt is broader at the front and shaped as clearly shown in Figure l of the drawing. The
lower front portion of the belt. is provided with fabrictabs 2, one being on each side of the front portion, and each of said tabs is provided with a buckle 3, for the non-elastic straps 4, of which straps oneis provided on each side of the belt. The rear ends of the or other elements 5, andeyes 6, for the tape 7, by means of which the 'belt is laced upon the person of the wearer. Secured to the rear sections ofthe belt, along the whale bones 5,y
seen that the rear ends of the strapse, mayv be adjusted vertically upon the belt merely by removing the string or tape 10, from one to another pair of loops 8. It is thus possible to change the alignment and direction of the straps with reference to the person of the wearer, so that when the straps are drawn tight on the buckles 8,.the belt will be properly and comfortably secured upon the wearer. Y v
It will be understood that various modifications in construction may be made for the adjustment of the rear ends of the straps, all within the scope of the present invention, as defined in the appended claim.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A belt of the character described compris-V ing an abdominalband constructed of elastic material, said band being open at the back, stifening elements secured near the back ends of said band, a seriesv of loops secured along a stiffening element near each of lsaid ends, non-elastic straps, each of said straps being provided with eyes whereby it may be selectively secured to desired loops, a
