This invention relates to a rotary dump mainly designed for dumping mine cars, the

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of'the several parts,
to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifi cally pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein the characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several a i stop means in releasing position and the structure ready to be given its initial movement. Figure 4 is an end view showing the parts with the structure in dumping position.
Figure 5 is a similar view showing the structure just before it completes its rotary movement.
Figure 6 is an enlarged sectional view showing the clutch assembly and the front endof the drive shaft.

A lever 18 is connected by the link 19 with the clutch fork 20 and by the link 21 with the arm 22 on the shaft 12, so that when the lever is manipulated the clutch will be moved into engagement with the Wheel 7 and at the same time the; shaft 12 will be rocked to move the stop 11 out ofthe path of the shoe 10, thus moving the stop to operative position and giving the-structureits initial movement at the same time. After the rims are in-engagement with the wheels 7 and 7 thelever is moved back to its normal position sou-as to place the stop in position to engage the shoe 10, after the structure has made a complete revolution and to release the Wheel 8 from the Wheel 7. r It will be, of course, understood that the frame 1 is provided with track'23 which is in'alinement with the track 24 when the frame in normal or non-dumping position so that'a car can pass from the track 24; upon the traclr- 23. Flanges 25 are arranged on the frame and on the car to hold the car in place during the dumping operation and'a deflector plate 26 is arranged adjacent one side of the-frame for deflecting the material from the car to a point underthe device.
In order to prevent the wheel 8 from slipping on the shoe when the wheel is given its initial movement I provide the shoe with a pointed projection27 which is engaged by pins 28 on the wheel so that as a pin'strikes a projection it will cause the shoe and, therefore, the rim, to move with the wheel. The
pins are slightly pointed as shown so that there is no danger of the projection riding onthe pin if the two should strike each otheras: they cometogether. If this should occur the pointed part of the projection strike ing the pointed part of the pin would cause the parts to slip off of each other, this being permitted due to the fact that the wheel Sis free to move.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I" have providedmeans whereby the drive shaft can be constantly rotated such as by a'motor' M "without imparting its .movementto the car supporting structure but as soon as the clutch is thrown into action and the stop ture is given its initial movement which will fastened to the drive shaft and thus the movestructure. 1 r r H It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readilyapparent.

Having describedthe invention, I claim:
