DRAWING BOARD Filed March 1925 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Fig.5
In aent'or Ernst Moratz Wamd W Patented Nov. 12, 1929 i j warren STATES PATENT OFFICE nnnsr MORATZ, or Enos-time, NEAR'BERLIN, GERMANY DRAWING BOARD Application filed March 9, 1525, Serial No. 14,260, and in Germany March 10, 1924.
This invention las reference to drawing support; Fig. 6 is a top view of the guide boards for dra'ltmens use and for similar shown in Fig. 5. purposes, and it particularly intended to The adjustable drawing board comprises devise means of both changing the inclinathe base or support a, the two lazy-tongs b tion of the board and its height above the and the drawing plate proper c. The lazy- 55 table or support when in an erected position. tar as are linked at one end to thesupport a In accordance with my invention the adin at the other end to the drawing plate 0; justnient oi the inclination oi": the drawing e Connection with the support a is efi'ectbgard i ff t d b lugging f, f instance, ed by a stud or the like it displaceable in a t o laz -ton s secured to the table or sun- ,Quide i which is secured to the su ort a. 60

This bar sockets or recesses or hooks disposed on bars on linked to one of the pivots of the lazyupon the lower side or upon the edges of the tongs, while the winged nut; g is screwdrawing board. By this adjustment of the threadcdly mounted upon the opposite pivot inclination as well as of the height of the of the lazy tongs. This latter pivoted stud board it becomes possible to so alter the relais adapted to pass through the slot of the tive position of the board with regard to the bar m. I support and to the drattsman that it may be The support or carrier at comprises the side manipulated and employed in accordance rails a and the connecting rails o The with the convenience and stature of the guide 2', above referred to, is secured'to the drattsman both in the standing up. as well as side rails (4,. Upon the support a two hooks in the seated position of the drattsman. The c areadjustably mounted serving for the 7 use of the lat-2y tongs facilitates the adjustdamping and retaining of the support or' ing procedinre, and permits off an adjustment carrier a on a table or the like. Adjacent in any desired position, and without the the two side edges of the drawing plate 0 necessity of a merely stepwise adj ustment in the hook-bars or socket-bars d are secured 3 the inclined position, as has been the case in in the sockets or recesses n of which the bolts 89 the previous art. I 0 which are to be rigidly secured to the sup- The device will be more fully described port a may be inserted. This arrangement with reference to the accompanying drawing serves for the change of operative height of showing by the way of exemplification an emthe board above the table.
Figure 1 being a sideview of the adjustable according to the invention is effected subdrawing board in the collapsed position stantially follows:-The drawing board ready for transportation; Figure 2 shows the is placed upon a table, a bank, a side board ,0 adjustable drawing board in top VlGW seen o r the like, and is securely clamped in pofrom above upon the drawing plate; Figure sltion by means of the ad ustable hooks e 3 is a side View of the drawing board in the and by loosening and then tightening the operative position, as secured to a table; the screws f. Then the winged nut g on the lazydotted lines representing the drawing board tongs is released and the drawing plate 0 at different inclination and with its operais swung on the pivot 0 into the desired potive height above the table reduced; Figure sition'. After this position has been arrived iis an illustration of the supporting member at the winged nut g is again tightened, provided at the front edge of the board carwhereupon the drawing board is ready for rier on an enlarged scale and in side view. operation. When it is desired to lower the Fig. 5 is an elevation of portion of the drawing board with relation to the table table showing the guide for the adjustable the bolt 0 withdrawn from its'socket, the
bodiment of the principles of this invention, The manipulation of the drawing board drawing plate 0 is lowered as indicated in the dotted-line position, and the bolt 0 is then again introduced into the sockets of the rail (Z.
In order to prevent striking of the lowest links of the lazy-tongs against the support in the lower positions the pivotal stud which is linked to the rails a, is raised-in its slotted guide 2', or it is caused to become-displaced in this guide 'z'upon the lowering of the drawing plate.
The invention has been shown and illustrated in its broad aspects only, and it should be understood that itis susceptible of alterations and changes to suit the convenience of the user and varying conditions of application, and without deviatingfrom the spirit or" the invention, as defined in the claims hereunto annexed.
I claim 1. In a drawing table, in combination, a drawing boar'd, a support for said drawing board, a guide-on said support, means for maintaining said drawing board in an inclined position, saidineans comprising lazytongs secured at one end'to said board and pivota'lly secured in said guide at'the other end, andnieans'to adjustably and detachably and pivotally connect said drawing board to said support at any one of a plurality of positions on the drawing board.
2. "In a drawing table, in combination, a drawing board, a support'for said drawing board, a plate provided with a plurality of notches secured to said board, means on said support for engagin any one of said'notches,
a guide on said support, lazy-tongs secured at one end to said board and piyotallysecured in said guide at the other end, and means forlocking saidlaZy-tongs in any one of a piurality of extended positions.
In testimony whereof} afiixmy signature.
