IMPROVEMENT IN BRUSHES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,287. dated February 8,1876; application filed December 23, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE P. HERNDON, ot'Tupelo, in the county of Lee and in the State of Mississippi, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brushes; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification. My invention relates to brushes of all kinds; and it consists in attaching the bristles or brush part to a frame, which may be attached to and detached from the handle at pleasure,

the frame 0, in which the bristles or brush D are secured in the usual manner.

The frame 0 may be held in the back B by means of buttons on a, as shown, or springfastenings, or any other suitable means, which will allow of its being easily attached and detached, as required.

With-this invention, when the brush part is worn out it is simply necessary to remove the same and insert a new one in the same handle.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-'- The within-described brush, consisting of the handle A, body B, with recess in its under side, and the frame 0, having bristles and held in the recess in the body by the buttons at a, or their equivalents, as set forth.
