Although I have shown and described a specific construction and form of parts as illustrative of an embodiment of my invention I do not desire to restrict myself to the exact form, shape or arrangement of the parts as various changes may be made Within the scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. In a device ofI the class described, a Wrench body having a series of ratchet teeth on one edge thereof and carrying a fixed jaw member, a saddle slidably mounted on the Wrench body, a second jaw member having a series of ratchet teeth on one edge thereof slidably mounted in t-he saddle for movement relatively thereto, a pair of spaced apertures in the second jaw member, a ball movably mounted in each of the apertures, a spring in each of the apertures exerting pressure against the ball in the apertures to press the balls against the ratchet teeth of the Wrench body to normally hold the Wrench body and the slidable jaw member in spaced relation, and a lever pivotally mounted in the saddle for moving a cam in contact With the slidable aw member wherebyv the ratchet teeth on the slidable jaw member Will be held in mesh with the ratchet teeth on the Wrench body 2. In a device of the class described, a Wrench body having a series of ratchet teeth on one edge thereof and carrying a fixed jaw member, a saddle slidably mounted on the wrench body, a second jaw member having a series of ratchet teeth on one edge thereof Aslidably mounted in the saddle for movement relatively thereto, a pair of spaced apertures in the second jaw member, a ball movably mounted in each of the apertures, a spring in each of the apertures exerting pressure against the ball in the apertures to press the balls against the ratchet teeth of the Wrench body to normallyrhold the Wrench body and the slidable jaw member in spaced relation, and a lever pivotally mounted in the saddle for moving a cam in Contact with the slidable jaw member Whereby the ratchet teeth on the slidable aw member Will be held in mesh With the ratchet teeth on the Wrench body, the point vof con tact between the cam and the slidable jaw member being between the apertures. y
