IMPROVEMENT IN SUSPENSION-RINGS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,466, dated January 18, 1876; application filed April 22, 1875.

- To all whom it may concern:

Beit known that I, GEORGE-W. MoGILL, of

the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful suspending Device for Hanging or Suspending Show-Cards, Pictures, 850.; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making part of this specification, and to the figures and letters of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 shows a front view of the device Fig. 2, a back view of the same, attached to a card; Fig. 3, a sectional view of the device, taken on the line a; a: of the Fig. 2, and Fig. 4 a detail View.

My invention consists in a piece of suitable sheet metal, having its body-portion struck up or fashioned into any ornamental design or form, as shown at A, in the figures. From the top of the body A rises the suspendingloop B. The plate I), forming the center of the loop B, is disconnected from the sides and top of the loop, but is left connected with From.

the bottom of the body A extends a pointed spur, 0. Both the plate I) and spur O are bent out on lines parallel with themselves,

and at right angles from the body A. The device is applied by forcing the spur C through the card to be suspended, and turning it up and then turning the plate 12 down over the top of the card and over the turned-up point of the spur O, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3.

.In the drawing, D represents the card. The plate b guides the point of puncture of the spur O, and covers its point, when inserted in the card to be suspended.

The spur C may be out from the center of thebody A, as shown in Fig. 4, but I prefer extending it from the bottom, as shown in the other figures, as making a better article.

What 1 claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

My within-described suspending device con sisting of the body A, loop B, plate I), and spur (J, out and swaged from a single piece of sheet metal, as herein shown, to operate in the manner and for the purposes herein specitied.
