*BALL GAME.

Application filed December 20, 1928. Serial No. 327,284.

This invention relates to amusement apparatus and has particular reference to that class of such apparatus known as ball games.

The object of the invention is to provide a generally improved apparatus adapted to be played as a ball game either as a toy or as a game of skill in public places oi? amusements.

In the accompanying drawing illustrating the preferred form of my invention Figure 1 is a plan view of the ball game.

Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view.

Figure 3 is a side view.

My improved ball game consists of a rectangularly shaped box of suitable size having the inclined bottom at, the sides 5, 5 and front and rear ends (3 and 7 respectively. 8, 8 represent suitable feet or supports. Adjacent the rear end 7 and secured to the bottom 4;, there is provided a piece 9 having an inclined stop portion 10. A plurality of ball ejecting pins 11, 11 are secured in the piece 9 in prearranged staggered relation. 1.2 is a spring.

A score board 14 is pivoted at15, 15 in the sides of the box above the pins 11. The score board is provided with a plurality of holes 16, 16 arranged in predetermined positions as shown. The holes 16 and pins 11 coincide. Each hole is marked with a score number or figure so placed that it may be read by the persons playing the game from the front 6.

The score board carries a rebounding board 18 having a plurality of rebounding sockets 19, 19. The score board is kept in its normal upper rearwardly inclined position by the spring 12 which forces the forward edge of the board against the underside of the rear edge 20 of the alley board 21 which is secured between the sides of the box in fixed horizontal position.

The score board further carries a pin 23 which projects to one side through a slot 24; in the side of the box. On the outside of the box there is pivoted at 25 a bell crank 26 having a slot 27 through which the said pin 23 projects. The bell crank is operated by a pull 28 which is guided in a bracket 29.

The game is played with a plurality of balls 30, 30; The normal position of the parts are as shown. The player rolls a ball along the alley board 21 and seeks to direct the ball into the hole 16 having the highest number. As the ball reaches the inclined score board it will naturally roll to the rear and come to rest in one of the holes having a low number. It will therefore be the object oi the player to roll the ball with such a "force that it will strike the rebounding board and roll iorward again so as to come tore st in a board which tend to catch and hold a ball,-

or the corner and sides of which may reflect a ball angular-1y into a different direction.

The playerwill use a certain number of balls and his score will be the total of the numbers of the holes in which his balls come to rest.

T heballs are returned to the player by the following means. The player will draw the pull 28 forwardly and thereby lower the score boards throu h the instrumentality of the bell crank 26 and pin 23 securedto the score board. The latter will be drawn downward into the position shown dot-ted in Figure 2 where the score board comes to rest on he stop portion 10 of the piece 9.

As the score board is lowered the holes 16 will pass down over the pins 11 which will automatically eject the balls from the holes, and as indicated in Figure 2, the balls will roll off the score board and return to the trout end of the box along the inclined bottom l. 7

The inclined surfaces 32 ot'the pins 1.1 as sist in starting the balls on their return travel. As soon as the balls are ejected from the holes, the player will release the pull 28 and the spring 12 will automatically restore the parts to normal position.

The ball game as herein disclosed may be made oi: any suitable material and in any size. it provides an interesting and amusing toy and game of skill.

1. A ball game of the character described comprising in combination a plurality of balls, a rectangular box having an inclined bottom and a horizontally disposed alley board supported a distance above said bot-- tom, a score board pivoted in said box at the rear end of the alley board and provided' with a plurality of numbered holes in predetermined staggered relation and adapted to receiveqthe balls rolled along the alley board, an equal number of ejector pins sup ported below said score board in axial alinement with the said holes, means for lowering said score board to cause the pins to project above the same through the said holes to eject the balls from the holes, said balls returning on the said inclined bottom and means for automatically restoring the score board to normal position and maintain it there While the game is being played.

A ball game of the character described .comprising in combination, a plurality of balls, a game boX having an inclined bottom and a horizontally disposed alley board, a scoreboard pivoted in said box at one end of the alley board and inclined away therefrom, a rebound board carried by the score board and adapted to reflect the balls rolled along the alley board into holes provided in the score board, ejector pins mounted be- .neath the score board, a pin in the latter projecting through the side of the game box, a bell crank and, pull outside said box for lowering the score board whereby to cause the said ejector pins to project through the said holes to eject the balls therefrom and a
