'Nnexrrn HOLDER.
Application led .Tune 13,1928. Seria1 No. 285,086. f
portion of the tie in proper posit-ion with re-v spcct to the front of a collar.
Another object of the invention is to provide a neclrtie holder by which theknot of a necktie may be held up against accidental drooping when in a tied condition upon a collar and against lateral shifting and which is substantially concealed behind the knot.
A further object is the provision of a neck- .tie holder which may be quickly applied to the head of a collar'button afterV the collar has been fastened, by snapping the same thereon. n i A A still further object is to provide a necktie holder which is simple in construction, .in-`
expensive of manufacture, and neat and attractive in appearance.
Vith these and other objects in View, the invention resides in certain novel construction and combination and arrangement o parts, the essential features of which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed out in the appended claims, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in
rwhich y Figure 1 is a detail perspective view of my improved necktie holder in position upon the collar button'of a shirt. i.
Figure 2 is an enlargedfvertic'al sectional view on the line 24-2 of Figure l.
Figure 3 is a front elevation of the holder per se.
Figure l is a front elevation of a modified form.
Figure 5 is an end elevation thereof. Figure 6 is a front elevation of another modified form.
Figure 7 is a side elevation of the form of holder shown in Figure 6.
Figure 8 is a front elevation of a furtherV 55 chicles a metal head 11 having a 'socket 12 therein, the entrance to which is restricted by a yieldable element 13.' The head 11 beat-' termed the female element for'receivingthe rounded head 14 of a collar buttonl 15. [The exterior annular side wallof ythe vhead is provided with a circumferential groove 16for receiving the eye 17 of aV-shape wire frame 18. The frame 18 is constructed of resilient wire andfhas its outwardly curvedwarms-l) curved backwardly vas :shown in Figure 23 ofVv the drawing. rlhe extreme and free ends of the arms terminate 1n loopsor eyes 20 which are adapted to press against the neckencircling portion 21 of a four-in-handv tie 22 to Vhold the kot 23thereof in proper position in the spaced front of a collar 24. The knot of the tie and outer folds of the'collar conceal the holder from view. A link 25 maintains the eye 17 in clamped position upon the head 11.
In applying the holder to the collar button 15,-the neckband and collar are fastened.
thereto in the usual way and the tie knotted anddrawn and the head 11 pressed upon the head or male element 14. The holder may be readily removed by pulling upon the head 11 to free the same from engagement with the f head of the collar button.
In Figures 4 and 5 of the drawing, I have y shown a slightly modied form inrwhich the eye 17 is soldered to the head 11 instead ofbe# bent midway between its ends into al humpV or eye-26 having arestricted entrancel open#` ing, while the free ends are bent upwardly is conand backwardly to provide resilient arms 27 j terminating in loopedk portions orn eyes 28. n In this form, the hump 26 is applied to the shank ofthe collar button just behind the( headl thereof. y y Y Figures 8 and9 show a further modiii'cation which is substantially the same in construction as the form shown in Figures 6 and 7 but instead of forming the holder of resilient wire, I stampv the same from a blank of flat resilient metal to provide an attach` ing eye 26 andresilient arms 27.
In all the various forms of my invention, I employ an attaching means for applying the holder to the front collar` button of a shirt, and provide outwardly diverging'resilient arms for gently pressing upon the neck encircling portion of a knotted tie to support the knot in proper position at the front of the v collar. The article will be found easy to apply and remove and will serve to impart a neat appearance 'to the tie of a wearer:
While I have'shown and `described what I deem to be the most embodiment of my invention, it is obvious that many oi' the details ma be varied without in any wa de artinO .l f3
from the spirit of my invention, and I therefore do not limit myself to the exact 4details ofconstruotion herein set forth noi* to any' thing less than the whole of my invention limited only by the appended claims.
What is claimed as new is '1. A- necktie holder comprising a single piece of resilient material bent midway between its ends to provide an eye, ontwardly -curvedarins extending from said eye and constitiiting the free ends of thesingle piece of resilient material, and a' link passing about 4saidarms for restraining outward iexing material bent midway between its ends toy provide an eye which is seated in said groove. the free ends of said material being curved in opposite directions to provide resilient arms. Y.
In testimony whereof'I have aiiixed my signature. f
