HUMIDIFIER.

This invention relates to humiditying derices such as are used for humidifying the air in cigar display cases and under like situations and the general object of this invention to provide a humidifier or moistener ot this type which is very simple, which may be cheaply made, which may be run at small cost, and which has been found very effective in use.
A further object is to provide a humidifier of this character wherein a certain amount o't water in a tank or container is heated by means of an electric bulb to a point where it will give off a small amount of vapor.
My invention is illustrated in the accompa ying drawings wherein z- Figure 1 is a vertical sectional View of a hurni fier constructed in accordance with my invention;

Referring to these drawings it will be that the humidifier consists of a tank 10 which iniry be made of copper, brass, or any other suitable material. his tank 10 is (lesigned to contain water up to the line indicated by the outwardly bulged corrugation 11 which extends around the four walls of the tank adjacent the top thereof. Extending over the circular formed in the plate 12 is a cap 17 which perforated at a plurality of points and carries the electric light socket 18. This cap has a depending flange 19 insertible into the rim 13, this flange being cut away or otherwise formed for engagement by set screws 20 on the rim 13. The electric light socket 18 carries the bulb 21 which is of such size as to extend nearly to the bottom of the tank. The electric light socket is, of course, provided with the usual flexible cord conductors terminating in the usual plug or base where by the bulb may be connected to a source oi electricity.
In the use of this device, the tank is filled section on the line opening with water to about an inch from the top and the light is turned on. In about tWo or two and a half hours the water will become sufiiciently heated so that a fine vapor will arise from the tank which thoroughly nioistcns the air *ithin the cigar display case. The electric light may be kept energized tor any desired length of time or may be only used when the cigars become dry. This cigar moistener is: inexpensive compa ed with those now on the market and is particuhirly efiicient. There are no parts to out of order and it costs but little to run.

It will. be particularly noted that the openings 17 in the cap 17 are relatively large and there may be any desi ed number oi these openings so as to permit free of the vapor out through these openings as the greatest amount of vapor will rise through this cover or cap because the water around the bulb will be hottest. Thus, there will be no condensation of vapor immediately around the bulb which would be likely to trickle down the bulb.

I claim A humidifier compris'ng a water tank formed to provide a relatively deep water eccidentar disengagement of the flanges, -1 cap. having Vaporoutletopenings and iziving' an inwardly turned sci-ew-threaded flange, electric lamp socket having sci-wthread-ed engagement with the flange, and
an, electric bulb carried by said socket andnormally iininersed'in the Water in the deep Wet space and having cennectione whereby it may be energized.
