Application filed Getober 31, 1927. Serial No. 2291.996.
My present invention has for its object to flanges turned toward each other. On the provide a smokers cabinet for holding cigars, cigarettes, matches and an ash tray where they arewithin easy access, but at the same time when the cabinet is closed are,v
covered and ont sight. rlhe smokers cabinet, whether closed or open, is artistic and has a very neat appearance, and While intended for general use, is especially adapted for the home or o'lice Where the same may be placed on a table or desk.
To the above end, generally stated, the invention consists of the novel devices and combinations oi' devices hereinafter described and defined in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate the invention, like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views.
eiierring to the drawings: Y Fig. 1 is a perspective View of the smokers cabinet; Y Y Y l Fig. 2 is a view partly in plan and partly in horizontalV section taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1,*on an enlarged scale;
Fig. 3 is a view principally'in transverse vertical section taken on the irregular line 3-3 of'Fg. 2; and
Fig. l is a view corresponding to Fig. 3 ywith the exception that the doors are open. The smokers cabinet is vvformed from pressed sheet metal and comprises a rectilinear saell 5 having a supporting base G. rlhis shell 5 is completely closed except at its two sides where there are relatively large door openings normally closed by doors 7 and 8. Said doors and 8 arehingedat their ends to the shell '5, as indicated at 9, for outward Vswinging movement. Each door 7, 8, is provided near its top with a knob 10 by which-the door may be held while opening and closing the same. Y A cigar vcompartment 11 is rigidly secured to the inner face of the door .7 and has formed in its inner `Wall a relatively deep notch or ringer passage 12 so that the cigars in-said compartment may be easily removed. Said cigar compartment 11 has a lining 13 ot felt or other suitable materia-l.
On the inner face oi the door 8 is a cigarette package holder comprising a pairvolupright laterally spacedv channel members 14e rigidly secured to the inner face of saidY door Sat its intermediate portion with their vinturned ymembers lll are of such size and so arranged lower ends of the channel members 14 are supporting ilanges 15. lThese door.
Further secured to the inner face of the door 8 is a match box holder in the form of a horizontal member 19 having on its inner end an Vupstanding spring arm 20 :for releasably holding a box of matches. A pin 21 Von the horizontal member 19 is arranged to engage a match boX proper at the time the same is placed in its holder and lift the same from its cover so that the matches can be easily removed from'the box.
Simultaneous opening and closing movements are imparted to the doors 7 and 8 by upright rela-tively short levers 22 intermediately pivoted one to the ends of the shell 5. The ends of the levers 22 are connected indirectly to the doors by pairs or' reversely-extended links 23. @ne pair of the links 23 at outer ends, is pivotally attached to the ends of the cigar compartment 11 and the outer ends of the other pair ofliuks 23 are pivoted to inwardly projecting lugs 24C on the inner face olf the door 8. One of these lugs 24 is so spaced that the ash tray 16 snugly lits between said lug and the respective channel member 14 and the other ol. said lugs is so arranged as to hold a box of matches Von the holder 19-20 in contact lwith the adjacent channel member 14 and thereby prevent 'movement orn said match box. transversely of the holder 19-20. Obviously,
having a door opening, a door normally closing saidA opening and having on its hack a pair of laterally spaced upright channel members, the Webs of `which at their lower 5 ends are turned laterally inward, said channel members affording a, holder for a pack'- age of cigarettes one of said channel mem-k 2' s v fixieren;
bers having a notch in the upper end of its web,y an ash tray having a. headed stud extending into said notch and supporting the 10 ash tray from said channelmember.
In testimony whereof I aliX my signature( SAMUEL B. sKLAla.
