MAGAZINE BINDER.
This invention relates generally to magazine binding devices, and has more particular reference to anovel magazine binding cover adapted to removably hold magazine pages.
The invention has for an object, the provision of a book-binding cover which will efliciently hold magazine pages, allowing at the same time an easy removal thereof.
The invention hasfor a further object, the provision of magazine binding cover, of sturdy, simple construction, which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
For further comprehension of the invention and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more parti ularly set forth.
Referring to the accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a book binding cover with pages therein, constructed according to this invention.
Fig. 2 is a fragmentary vertical sectional view thereof, taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 4.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a rod holder standard used in the device, the rod holder strip thereof not being shown therein.
Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional View, taken on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary perspective view of the rod holder standard without the rod holder strip.
Fig. 6 is a perspective view of the rod holder standard with the rod holder strip engaged therein.
Fig.7 is a sectional view, taken on the line Z'7 of Fig. 6. V
The reference numeral 10 indicates the '"ront leaf, 11 the rear leaf, and 12 the side joiner for binding cover. Rivets 13, secure to the top and bottom of the inner side of joiner 12, the main flanges 14 of rod holder 45 standards having U-shaped members 15, perpendicular to the main flanges 14, and the outer arms of the U-shaped members 15 are integral with the main flanges 14, while the inner arms are provided with elongated 1927. Serial no. 185,567.
apertures 16. A plurality of spring steel 5 rods 18 may be passed through groups of pages 19, thereafter bent and inserted in'the elongated apertures 16, and when released serves to hold the pages inthe binding'cover.
The main flanges 14 are provided with apertures 20 through whichthe rivets 13 pass.
;The U-shaped member 15 is provided with end integral flanges 22, and av rod holder strip bar 23 is provided with end flanges 24 adjacent flanges 22. The screws 25 hold the flanges 22 and 24 together. The strip bar 23 is provided with a plurality of apertures 26 aligned with the elongated aperture 16 in the inner arm of U-shaped member. 15.
When these rod strip bars are used in the binding cover, the rods 18 are normally inserted in the apertures 26, and are therefore held as placed. At the option of the user of the binding cover, screws 25 and strip bar 23 may be removed, and then the rods 18 are slidable in the aperture 16.
While we have illustrated anddescribed I the preferred form, construction, and arrangement of the several elements employed, it will be understood that the device is, nevertheless, susceptible of considerable modification therein, and we therefore reserve the right andprivilege of resorting to all such changes as may be fairly embodied within the .spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is: Y
1. In a binder, the combination with spaced apart strip bars having a plurality of apertures for supporting rods engaged with groups of pages, of U-shaped members attached to the binder, and having inner arms, flanges integral with the ends of the said inner arms, other flanges integral with the said strip. bars and positioned adjacent the flanges of theinner arms, and screws engaged in the flanges of the inner arms, and engaging the flanges ofthe strip bars, removably holding the strip bars. l
2., In a binder, the combination with spaced apart strip bars having a plurality of apertures for supporting rods engaged With groups of pages, of U-shaped members 7 attached to the binder, and having inner arms, flanges integral With the ends of the said inner arms, other flanges integral with the said strip bars and positioned adjacent the flanges of the inner arms, and means for removably holding the said flanges together.
In testimony whereof We have affixed our signatures.
MAX W. FEDERBUSH.
' JACOB D. FEDERBUSH.
