The present invention relates to lavatory fittings, and moreparticularly to a combination faucet and shower structure including a curtain support.

An object of the invention is to prov de a structure of pleasing appearance, which may be readily positioned and is adaptable for use, either with an overhead shower or a flexible spray tube, having its nozzle positioned conveniently for manual operation.

Bots ring to the drawings for a more detailed description, 10 indicates a faucet having hot and cold water cocks 11, 12, a central mixing chamber 13, and a switch valve 14-. adapted to direct the flow either through a spout 15 or nipple 16, leading to a suitable shower column 17. The fixture is shown as positioned within a tub, the outline of which is diagrammatically indicated, and the shower column 17 is connected to the nipple 16, as by means of a socket 153, at the end of the nipple, which receives an extension upon the end of the collar, thelatter having an orifice within the socket to permitthe water to enter the column. A suitable stud 20 passes through the extension 19 and the socket member to provide a pivotal connection, whereby the column may be adjusted to a horizontal axis to obtain the desired vertical position. The column 17, which is preferably a rigid pipe may be formed in two sections united by a coupling 21, which has a flanged ends of the ring and havm lateral passage 22 directed through an extension 23, the latter being formed with a nipple 24 for the spray tube 25, and if desired, there may be positioned upon the ex-' junction member is supported by means of one or more bracket arms 30, which may be of telescopic construction to permit their extension to an adjacent supporting wall.- A suitable construction is indica-tedin the lrawings, in which sections 31 have threaded extremities 32 engaging internal threading 38 in larger sections 3%,the ends of the latter fitting into sockets in the junction member 27. The junction member also serves to, carry a suitable curtain support, in the present instance in the form of a ring 38, which comprises two substantially semi-circular sections, the ends SQot'which are held in sockets 40 of the junction member 27 by means i lock collars 4l1 fitted uponthe slightly a threaded engagement with the sockets 40. If desired, the sections of the ring may be, completely separated to form two substantially semicircular sect-ions supported at their other ends, as indicated in Figure 5, by means of a spherical junction member 4 2, having lateral sockets d3 receiving the ends 39 of the ring sections, the latter being held therein by collars 48. The junction member 42 is supported in the same manner as the member 27 by one or more extensible bracket arms as projecting toward the adjacent wall and, secured thereto, as by a toggle bolt connection 45.

The device is adaptable for use as an over-' head shower, it being noted that the junction member 27 is hollow (Figure 4), the opening 28 which receives the shower column communicating with a lateral orifice 48, which may, when used with a spray tube, as in Figure 1, be closed by a plug 50. The on- -fice 48, however, is adapted to receive a shower head when the plug is removed, and as will be understood, in such cases it'is simply necessary to substitute for the coupling 41, an ordinary coupling to permit the water to rise to the shower head, which may be substituted for the plug 50.

When the structure is assembled, it will be understood that the faucet proper is first positioned, and the shower column 17 is then suitably connected thereto, the brackets 30 at the upper end thereof which carry the junction plug 27 being adjusted to reach the adjacent wall and ceiling to the end of the column. If the spray tube 25 is to be employed, the precise structure shown in Figure 2 may be used to connect the sections of the shower column, but if an overhead shower is preferred, an ordinary coupling permitting the ascent of the water in the column may be substituted therefor. It will be noted that the brackets 30, 4A rigidly carry the curtain ring, as well as the shower column. The adjustment of the shower column at the joint 20 permits the alignment of the same with the junction member 27 at the upper end thereof and the possible adjust ment of the bracket arms 30 affords a complete structure which may be readily assembled and installed for use.

In the operation of the device, the hot and cold water cocks 11, 12 may be turned to proper position to cause the flow of water of the desired temperature and force, and by means of the switch cock 14 the water may be directed through the spout 15 until the shower is to be employed, whereupon actuation of the switch valve 14 will direct the water either through the spray tube 25, or, if an overhead shower is employed, through the shower head.

It should be understood, of course, that the invention is not limited to the precise details of construction illustrated and described, but that such modifications may be made therein as come within the scope of the following claims.

I claim:

1. A faucet and shower combination comprising the combination with hot and cold water valves and connections therefor, of a mixing chamber structure between said valves, a supply spout leading from said chamber, a rigid shower column leading upwardly from said chamber, a switch valve in said chamber for controlling the discharge through said spout and shower column, and means connecting said column to said chamber structure permitting adjustment of said columnabout a horizontal axis relative to said chamber.

A faucet and shower combination com prising the combination with hot and cold water valves and connections therefor, of a mixing chamber structure between said valves, a supply spout leading from said chamber, a rigid shower column leading upwardly from said chamber, a switch valve in said chamber for controlling the discharge through said spout and shower column, said column having a shower outlet, and means for securing the upper end of said column and supporting therefrom a curtain ring, said means comprising a junction member adapted to receive the column, an arm received in a socket in said member and extending outwardly therefrom and adapted to be secured to a rigid support, said member having sockets to receive the ends of the sections of a curtain ring.

A faucet and shower combination comprising the combination with hot and cold water valves and connections therefor, of a mixing chamber structure between said valves, a supply spout leading from said chamber, a rigid shower column leading up wardly from said chamber, a switch valve associated with said chamber for controlling the discharge through said spout and shower column, said column having a shower outlet, means for securing the upper end ofsaid column and supporting therefrom a curtain ring, said means comprising a junction member adapted to receive the column, an arm extending outwardly from said member and adapted to be secured to a rigid support, said member having sockets to receive the ends of the sections of a curtain ring and an opening in communication with said column serving for the attachment of a shower head.

A device of the class described comprising the combination with hot and cold water valves and connections therefor, of a mixing chamber, a shower column leading from said chamber, a junction member at the upper end of said column and receiving the latter, a bracket arm carried directly by said member and extending outwardly therefrom and carrying means for securing the same to a rigid support, said member having sockets to receive the ends of curtain ring sections,

and a curtain ring formed in sections with their ends fitted into said member.

A device of the class described comprising the combination with hot and cold water valves and connections therefor, of a mixing chamber, a shower column leading from said chamber, a hollow junction block at the upper end of said column and receiving the latter, an outlet opening in said block serving for attachment of a shower head, bracket arms extending outwardly from said block at right angles to one another and carrying means for securing the same to a rigid support, said block having sockets to receive the ends of curtain ring sections, and a curtain ring formed in sections with theirends fitted into said block.

A curtain ring and support therefor comprising junction members, bracket arms extending outwardly from said members and having means serving for attachment to a rigid support, each junction member having lateral sockets, and curtain ring sections having their ends fitting into said sockets, one of said members being hollow and having an opening to receive the end of a shower column and an additional opening to receive a shower head.

A curtain ring and support therefor comprising a pair of junction members each having sockets on opposite sides thereof, curtain ring sections having their ends fitting into said sockets, additional sockets in said members to receive the ends of bracket arms, and bracket arms fitting into the last mentioned sockets and extending outwardly from each of said members substantially at right angles to one another, said arms having at their ends means for attachment to a rigid support.

10. A curtain ring and support therefor comprising a pair of junction members each having sockets on opposite sides thereof, curtain ring sections having their ends fitting into said sockets, additional sockets in each of said members to receive the ends of bracket arms, and bracket arms fitting into the last mentioned sockets and having at their free ends means for attachment to a rigid su port, there being two arms for each member positioned at right angles to one another.

11. A curtain ring and support therefor comprising a pair of junction members each having sockets on opposite sides thereof, curtain ring sections having their ends fitting into said sockets, additional sockets in each of said members to receive the ends of bracket arms, and extensible bracket arms fitting into said sockets and having at their free ends means for attachment to a rigid support, there being two arms for each member positioned at right angles to one another.

12. A curtain ring and support therefor comprising a pair of junction members each having sockets on opposite sides thereof, curtain ring sections having their ends fitting into said sockets, additional sockets in said members to receive the ends of bracket arms, bracket arms fitting intosaid sockets and having at their ends means for attachment to a rigid support, one of said members having a passage therethrough, and a vertical shower column fitting into one end of said passage, the other end thereof being adapted to receive a shower head.

13. A curtain ring and support therefor comprising a pair of junction members each having sockets on opposite sides thereof, curtain ring sections having their ends fitting into said sockets, additional sockets in each of said members to receive the ends of bracket arms, bracket arms fitting into said sockets and having at their free ends means for attachment to a rigid support, there being two arms for each member positioned at right angles toone another, one of said members having a passage therethrough, and a verticalshower column fitting into one end of said passage, another end thereof being adapted to receive a shower head.
