' DEVICE FOR SECURNG CI-IIGNONSTO OBBED I-ltAllt.`
application fusa March 7, lees, serial iro.
This invention has for its object a den vice foi-securing a chignon to bobbed hair. 'According to the present invention the device comprises a supporting member curved according to the form of the rear of the head andprovided with one or more gripping devices adapted to be threaded upwards in bobbed hair and'secure the supporting member to the. hair and a frame member adapted yto carry the chignon pivotally mounted on theysupporting member in such a manner as to be capable of being turned downwards so as to permit the securing device to be placed in position 1.5 without disarranging the bobbed hair or 'the :form of the chignon and raised and secured on the supporting member after the latter has been secured in position in the bobbed hair. Such a device permits a chignon to be, applied to bobbed hair very readily and-what is very important-without disarrangingthe hair of the person, or the form of the chignon, which can be dressed and mounted previously, that is to the hair. p
One embodiment of the invention in which the supporting member of the chignon securing device isl adapted to be secured to the hair by means of two gripping devices, is described by way of example with reference vto the accompanying drawings in which Figure l is a view of the device in use;
Figure 2' is a rear elevation view of the device, with the chignon removed.
Figure 3 is a view showing a transverse section through the assembled device with the chignon removed. v
Figure A is a plan View, with the chignon indicated by hatched lines;
Figure 5 is an elevational View 'of the frame member upon which the chignon is adapted to be mounted.
Figures 6 and 7 are views illustrating in detail the above mentioned gripping devices.
Referring now to the drawings the device comprises a supporting member A consisting of a bar-like piece curved according to the form of the rear of the head. and having at its upper edge two` lugs a, on which gripping devices B are mounted. The gripping devices are each in the form ot a small long-toothed comb, theteeth Z9 of which, are secured at their lower ends in a say, before thel application of the device tol 259,876, and in Switzerland ctoier 7,
resilient metallic member b1 in the form of astirrup (Figures 6 and 7 The arms of thestirrup b1 are guided on amember a1 secured to the lug a, of the bar A, a head 0,2 being provided at one extremity of the member al, the other extremity of which carries a small lever b2 pivotallymounted at b3 and having a projection constituting a cam, adapted, when the lever?)2 isturned in a clockwise direction (Figure 6)to act on the .stirrup b1, so as to deform thelatter and release or disengage the teeth,y b from one another. In this position 'of the teeth the latter can 'be threaded upwards in bobbed hair, slidingagainstthe skin of the head, the hair being tal'renlup between the teeth of the comb. The member .A being thus placed in positionpthe levers 2' l2 are lifted thus permitting` the stirrups b1 to beY straightened and the .teeth b to come to# gether and lgrip the hair, the member A being thus iirmlyheld in place. Y On .the supporting member- .A al base member for lsupporting the chignon lis pivotally mounted at c. vThe'basemember consists of Va curved frame D, a canvas frame D1 being adapted to be connected to the frame D inV ysucha 4manner as toy be removable therefrom, g adapted to be mounted on the frame 'D1 before the latter is secured.. to. theframe'D. Screws d on one of framesl), Dlxand notches Z1 von the other Jframevv (Figures2 and 5), together with a" clip cl2` serve for securing the frames together,but other securing devices may'berutilized. The frames D, D1 thus secured together, are adapted to be secured in an upright position on the supporting member A 'by' a spring clip 'f provided on the member A and adapted toY engage with the -junit 'constituted by the two frames .D, D1. f
The apparatus'is used as-follows:'- The chignon having beenmounted on the canvas frame D1L thelatter beingseparated from Ithe frame `D 'for ythis purpose, the frame D1 is then secured to the `frame D so as to constitute a unit which is turned. downwards about the pivots c. and after the teeth bvo-f the stirrups b1 have been released by depressing the levers b2, as shown in Figure 7, the combs are threaded upwards in the bobhed hair ,until the supporting member A is in the required position, whereupon the levers b2 are raised thus per mitt-ing the teeth b to close together on the the vchignon `being hair which has been taken up between the teeth and hold the member A firmly in place in the hair. The member A can thus be yplaced in position Without disarranging the bobbed hair, or the form of the chignon.
D, D1 are'preferably made of ay light metal,
such 'as 'aluminum or an alloy of aluminum, but. may consist of any suitable material.
The invention is not limited to the embodim'entv thereof described with reference to the drawings. Forexample, insteadof two gripping devices, onegripping device only in the form of a comb may be employed. Moreover, the chignon could be mounted on one frame only pivotally. mounted on lthe supporting member in such a manner as to be able to be removed therefrom ttor the purpose yof mounting the chignon. i
What 'I claim istl. A device -for securing chignons to bobbed hair, comprising a `supporting member curved according to 'the rear ot the head,
means on said supporting member to secure same to `bobbed hair, a movable frame adapted to carry the chignon and pivotal connectionv means to` pivotally connect saidv frame to the,`supporting member, for the purpose specified. Y
2. device for securing vchignons to bobbed hair, comprising a supporting member 'curved according to the rear ot the head, means on said supporting member to secure saine to bobbed hair, a movable frame adapted 'to carry the chignon and interconnection means between said supporting member and chignon carrying frame adapted to allow removal thereof from the supporting member, `for the purpose specied.
'3. A device for securing chignons to bobbed hair, comprising a supporting member curved according to the rear of the head, comb-like gripping meanson said supporting member to secure same to bobbed hair, a
movable'trame adapted to carry thechignon and pivotal connection means to pivotally connect said frame to the supporting member, for the purpose specified.
- 4. A device for securing chignons to bobbed hair, comprising' a supporting member curved according to the rear of the head, comb-like gripping means' thereon to secure the supporting member to bobbed hair, said grippingsvmeans having long gripping teeth, a resilient piece carrying same and an acti'iatfing ,memberv thereon to produce deformation or resetting ot said resilient piece and thereby a release or engagementlofthe gripping teeth, a movable trame adapted to carry ber curved according to the rear of the head,
