GAME-RECORDING BOARD.

This invention relates to an improvement in play-indicating game boards; and has for its object to provide aboard of this character more] particularly adapted for use in following the plays in a foot-ball game, the board having lines on its face corresponding to those on a foot-ball field and lnarkers are provided to move along the field as ipdicated on the board to show the changes in positions of the ball after each pla A further object of the invention is the provision of nqovable markers to indicate the difi'erent playing teams. That marker representing the team having the ball is the mark- 16 er in play and .is arranged to be moved to the location of the ball after each play.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of another marker on the opposite side of the field arranged to cooperate 2'0 with the first named marker to be moved along the board to indicate the number of yards gained or lost after each down.

The invention still further consists in the provision of rotatable means mounted on. the

2 board to be moved to show the first, second or third quarter of the game being played, also to show the score of the home and the visiting teams and the number of downs during each play. i

7 With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

It is also found advantageous to provide a device on the board which will show the quarter being played, whether it bethe first,'second or third in the game, also a device adapted to be manipulated to show the number of downs in the play and of my invention and showing one arrangement of board and arrangement of markers by which these advantageous results may be accomplished i With reference to the drawings, 10 designates the score board which is preferably rectangular in shape and made of any suitable material. The face of the board has lines as at 11 showing the side lines of the field and having circles 12 at the ends to show the goal post.

The field is lined transversely as at 13 to indicate the 5 yard intervals from the opposite goals to the 50 yard line at the center of the field. Each of these 5 yard lilies may be subdivided if desired to assist in more accurately positioning the markers, a margin being preferably left between the side lines of the field and the edge 15 of the board,

I have also provided a plurality of marker members which are movable longitudinally along the face of this board to indicate the position of the ball after each play, which markers may be of any desired shape and operated in any desired way, but I preferahl y provide a set of markers each constructed similar to a clip, as shown in Figure 2, having a pair of opposite spring arms 16 between which the edge of the board is lightly gripped, the marker beingalso preferably provided with an extension portion 17 which servesas an operating handle, whereby it may be readilymositioned on the edge of the board to readily move along the same 'senting the team havin to any position on the board for the urpose of indicating the location of the bal after each play, also it is considered advanta eous to mount two markers on one edge 0? the board, the same being preferabl of different colors or shapes to indicate t e two different contesting teams. Also it is found of advantage to provide a third markerlS mounted on the opposite edge of the board which is also arranged to be moved longitudinally along the field to cooperate with the team marker to indicate the number of yards to go after each down.

In some instances also I- mount a rotatable disc 19 on the board having numerals on its face, an opening 20 over the face of the disc being provided through which one of the numerals shows toindicate, which quarter of the game is now being played. Also, I mount a pair of cooperating numeral-carrying discs 21 on the board which are arranged to show through an opening 22 in the face of the board to indicate the score of the home team. Also, I may provide another disc 23 having numerals on its face which are arranged to show through an opening 24 to indicate the number of points won, in the play as the game proceeds, and again on the opposite end of the score board or other convenient place I may provide another pair of cooperating numeral-carrying discs 25 arranged to show through an opening 26 in the board, which numerals will indicate the score of the visiting team.

My improved play-indicating game board is extremely simple and inexpensive to construct and by its use one listening to an announcer over the radio giving the description of a foot ball game finds the game much more interesting to follow each, play by moving the difi'erent devices to indicate the score and keep correct track of the constantly chan ing posltions of the ball while in play. By t e term edge of the board in the specification and claims, I mean any edge of the board to which one or more of the clips may be adjustably applied.

The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.

'I claim: I

1. A game recording board generally rectangular in. form to conform to the shape of a foot-ball field and having lines on its front face corresponding to those on a football field, a pair of markers one movable along one edgeand the other movable along the other edge of the board, each being movable along the entire length of field representation entirely independent of the position of the other, one marker representing a competing team and cooperating with the field lines to indicate the position of the ball after each play, and the other marker cooperating with the field lines to designate the number of yards to go after each down.
