Description

' 1,662,039 J. J. A. HEYNEN CONTAINER FOR CRAVATS OR NECKTIES Filed May 24, 1927 Patented Mar. 6, 1928.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAN JOSEPH ANTOINE HEYNEN, or NIJMEGEN, NETHERLANDS.
CONTAINER FOR GRAVATS OR NECKTIES.
Application filed May 24, 1927, Serial No. 193,842, and in Germany March 31, 1925- The invention relates to a box or container for cravats or neckties and has for its object to so construct the box or container, that without using any intermediate or false bottom or partition for separating the bottom portion from the cover portion of the box,
it is possible to pack up in the box two layers of cravats or neckties. Taking into account that neckties are used in large numbers and that many thousands o1 them,
packed in boxes, are sent off by manufacturers every week, it will be clear that a considerable amount of packing-charges is saved by packing in a box of the usual size the double number of neckties.
The invent-ion broadly consists in a twopart hinged container or box for cravats or neckties, in which the cravats or neckties are detachably secured, the cover, hinged to the box-body or bottom portion of the box, being provided with attachment-strips and recesses for the narrowed necleportions of the neckties or cravats, in such a manner, that the said strips, in the closed position of the cover, do not interfere with the crava'ts or neckties secured by means of strips to the bottom of the box, and that the two layers of cravats or neckties do not hinder each other in any way.
The invention Will be more fully understood with reference to the accompanying drawing, illustrating it by way of example.
The figure shows, in perspective, an embodiment of a neck-tie 'box, the cover being opened and the neckties themselves having been omitted.
In the figure showing a box for neckties of the fO1l1-l11-l12111d type the cover 8 is hinged to one of the longitudinal edges of the lower or bottom portion of the box 9. The attachment in the cover as well as in the lower box-portion is effected by means or horizontal cross-strips 10 and 11 each having three outwardly open dovetailed recesses 01' incisions 12, receiving the neck-portion As these recesses 12 grow four-in-hand type comprising an oblong cover, an oblong bottom hinged to the cover at their longer edges to form therewith a closed container, a cross-strip secured in the cover at one end thereof, a cross-strip secured in the bottom at one end thereof, a dovetailed recess in each cross-strip to hold the narrowed neck portion of a cravat or necktie. and a member extending across said cover to retain the free ends of the cravats or neckties in place. I
r In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
JAN JOSEPH ANTOINE HEYNEN. I
