This invention relates to a receptacle de-' signed for use as a container for trash or the like and adapted to be positioned at street corners so that persons passing by may drop newspapers, boxes or other trash in the receptacle and the streets kept clean from all foreign matter. Y
Another ob ect of the invention is to pro vide a receptacle of this character having an inclined bottom adapted to direct the mate rial contained in the receptacle, towards the discharge opening thereof so that the receptacle may be easily emptied.
A still further object of the invention is to construct the device so that it may be used for marking the streets;
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the in vention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 indicates the body portion of the receptacle which maybe constructed of suitable plastic material such as concrete or the like and provided with an inclined bottom 6 that inclines towards the front wall 7 of the receptacle.
The front wall 7 is formed with a cut out portion defining the discharge opening of the receptacle which discharge opening is closed by means, of the hinged closure 8 which is supplied with a suitable latch '9 for. normally holding the closure in its closed position.v
The top or cover for the receptacle is removable and is indicated by the reference character 10, the same being slightlyjlarger sectional view than the body portion of the receptacle so that the edges thereof extend beyond the walls of the body portion as clearly shown by Figure 2. v
I Depressions such as indicated at 11 are formed in the upper edge of the body portion 5 and at the corners thereof, which depressions receive the bosses 12 formed on the coverlO so that movement of the cover 10, under ordinary conditions will be prevented.
Gut out portions 13 and 14 are formed in opposite sides of the cover 10, the cut out portion 13 being larger than the cutout portion 14 so that a. shovel may be inserted through the cut out portion to deposit trash in the receptacle. On positioning the receptacle, the cut out portion 14 will be arrangedadjacent to the sidewalk so that. persons walking along the sidewalk may deposit trash in the receptacle through the cutout portion 14.
The reference character 15 indicates hinged closures adapted for closing the cut out portions, the closures being formed preferably of metal and provided with downwardly extended flanges 16 formed along the edges thereof, which flanges are adapted to fit, inthe grooves 17 formed adjacent to the openings so that the hinged closures will be water-proof, and the outer surfaces therei of may lie flush with the outer surfaces of the cover 10 presenting a neat appearance.

I claim:
'A deposit and collection receptacle includ ing a body portion, a cover for the body portion, said cover having openings formed therein, said cover having grooves surrounding the openings, hinged closures formed of sheet material, normally covering the opening-s, said hinged closures having" depending j flanges fitted int-he grooves, said cover having its lower edge extended beyond theside Walls of the receptacle, and a hinged closure for normally closing the lower portion of the body portion.
