ROLLING MILL.
Application filed March 11, 1926, Serial No.
My invention relates to rolling mills and more particularly to the housings, and has for its object to produce a rolling mill provided With closed housings which will permit the exchange of the frames containing the rolls and of the housing accessories, which, in my new construction I accomplish laterally. The nature of my invention will more clearly appear from the following detailed description with reference to the appended drawin in which I have illustrated my invention y way of example and in which J Fig. 1 is a vertical section through a housing, showing three rolls, Fig. 2 a plan view being a horizontal section through the housin and the exchangeable frame, Fi 3 a si e elevation of. the housing, the exe an eable frame being shown in section and Fig. 4 an elevation of the frame removed from the housing.
In the drawing, 1 designates the closed housing, 2 the exchangeable frame, 3 the housing accessories and 4 the rolls.
The exchangeable frame 2, which may be composed of several parts-or may be made in one piece and which supports the rolls 4 and the housing accessories 3 is inserted into the housing 1 from the side on the guide-rails 5 and is secured therein by means of plates or wedges 6. Upon the removal of the latter,
it is easy to laterally withdraw the frame 2.
93,833, and in Germany December 14, 1925;
from the housing 1, so that the frame can be replaced byanother frame. In this man-- ner, the advantage of exchangeable frames can be availed of also in rolling mills provided with closed housings.
As a matter of course, the same construction can also be used where open housings are used provided with detachable tops or 40 hoods.
I claim as my invention:
1. In rolling mills, in combination, a housing, guide rails therein extending to the exterior thereof, and an exchangeable frame movably mounted on said rails and carrying rolls and housing accessories,- said frame being adapted to be inserted into said housing by lateral movement on said guide rails said guide rails supporting said frame in opera- 5o tive position in the housing.
2. In rolling mills, in combination, a housing, guide rails therein extending to the ext 1;i or thereof, and an exchangeable frame movably mounted on said rails and carrying rolls and housing accessories, said frame being adapted to be inserted into said housing by lateral movement on said guide rails, said guide rails supporting said frame in operative position in the housing and means "for to securing the frame upon said guide rails.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
FRITZ 'MGLL R.
