This invention relates to double wall well screens.
The general to provide an improved double wall well v screen construction capable of easy and inexpensive installation in a Well without requiring the riveting of the screen sections together. i A
A further object of the invention is to provide a deflecting ring for the lower end of a well screen.
The foregoing and other objects are obtained by the double wall well screen illustrated in the accompanying drawings and described. below. It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific form thereof shown and described.

Referring to the drawings, the numeral 10 designates the lower section of a double wall well screen, at the lower end of which the outer and innercasings 11 and 12 converge together and are secured to each other in 35 any suitable way. A ring 13 is preferably mounted thereon, this ring flaring upwardly and outwardly from the bottom of the.

Connected onto the lower section of the screen are similar upper sections 14, 14, as many being employed as required for any given. depth of well. The joint between the lowermost section 14 and section 10 and also the joint between sections 14 are preferably made as'best'illustrated in Figures 2 and 3.
The adjacent ends of the inner casing sections are flanged outwardly as at 15, 15 and clamping and wall- spacer rings 16, 16 are arranged between the inner'and outer walls to clamp flanges 15 therebetween, clamping bolts 17 17 being extended through said rings 16 for this purpose, and also to support the inner and outer casings in proper spaced relationship. In Figure 4, a modified form of joint is shown in which only one spacer ring 16 is used at each joint, flanges 15 on the inner wall sections preferably being wider than flanges 15 and having bolts 17 extended therethrough and through ring 16, the flanges 15 seating upon the opposite faces of ring 16. The outer wall sections are preferably butt-Welded as at 18' at this joint also.
It will appear from the foregoing that a. simple, inexpensive joint for double wall screen sections has been provided and one which can easily be made as the screen is being sunk into the earth. In addition, the ring 13 provides effective means for deflecting the earth to permit easy insertion of the easing into the earth. 9
Modifications of the invention may be resorted to without departing from the spirit thereof or the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
1. A well screen including jointed double 7 wall sections, the inner wall sections of which have outwardly flanged ends at the joints, pairs of spacer rings between the walls, bolts extended through the spacer rings for clamping said flanged ends between said rings to join said sections, outer wall sections butt-welded at the joint, the lowermost double wall section being formed with its inner and outer wall converging together at the bottom thereof, and an upwardly and outwardly flaring ring secured on the bottom of said lowermost section.
2. A well screen including 'ointed double wall sections, the inner wall sections of which "have outwardly flanged ends at the joints, pairs of spacer rings between the walls, bolts extended through the spacer rings for clamping said flanged ends between said rings to join said sections, and outer wall sections butt-Welded at the joint, the lowermost double wall section being formed. with its inner and outer wall converging together at the bottom. thereof.
3. A well screen including jointed double wall sections, the inner wall sections of which have outwardly flanged ends at the joints, pairs of spacer rings between the walls, bolts extended through the spacer rings for clamping said flanged ends between said rings to join said sections, and outer wall sections butt-welded at the joint.
4.
