My invention relates to gliders designed particularly for children to be held on one foot for coasting or sliding over ice or snow while the other foot is used to run on the ice or snow and propel the glider carrying the other foot.

My invention has for its primary object to provide a simple, elfective, convenient and economical device of this kind and consists mainly of a runner having its forward end curved upward, a post with handle fixed in the curved forward end to be held by the rider for support and guidance, a shoe fixed on the runner to receive removably the foot of the user, and by preference longitudinal grooves on the underside of the runner at the rear end to prevent the runner from sideslipping and longitudinal rails on the underside of the runner at the forward end, tapering vertically and rearwardly to the grooves, all substantially as hereinafter described and claimed.

In order that my invention may be fully understood I shall first describe in detall the mode in which I at present prefer to carry the invention into practice and then particularly point outthe invention in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification in which like parts are designated by the same letters in both figures,

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a glider embodying my mvention.

Flgure 2 is a view of the underside of the runner.

'In the drawings, 3 designates the foot runner which is preferably made rigid and of tough wood with its forward end 4 curled over. Through an aperture in the upper part of the curled over forward end, into a socket in the lower part thereof is passed fixedly a rearwardly raking post 5, having on .its upper end a rigid cross-bar 6, serving as a handle for the user to supporthimself and also to guide the runner. On the medial portion of the runner near its center of balance is fixed a shoe 7 to receive removably one foot of the user, who can thus use the other foot to run on the ground and propel the runner with his body partly supported thereon swiftly and easily over the snow or ice.

On the underside. of the runner forward are by preference fixed parallel longitudinal rails 8, to make the runner glide more easily over the snow and ice, and in the under side rearward are by preference formed parallel longitudinal grooves 9 to engage the snow and ice and prevent the runner from side-slipping.

It is evident that the details of the embodiment of my invention may be eatly varied without departing from the undaries of my inventlon as defined by the following claim.

I claim as my invention- A glider consisting of a runner, having parallel grooves in the rear portion of its underside, parallel rails on the forward underside of the runner, taperin vertically toward a meeting with the paraflel grooves, and a post on the runner. 5
