This application is divided out from my application Ser al No. 597,601 filed Oct. 28, 1922.

The object of my invention is to provide 6 sanitary, unbreakable and artistic dolls, marionettes and toys which are adapted to perform new uses as toys of very unusual qualities. I

My im rovements consist in combining a 10 metal ske eton of coil s rings with flesh materlal such as spon ru ber with or without a cover skin of flexible material such as rubber, and the methods of manufacturing the same.

The arms and legs of dolls and fore and hind legs of animal toys may have compressible and extensible s rings as art of their metal anatomy, no t at the do ls and animals will s ring when dro or when held down an then released. he head also may contain a compressible and extensible sprin or there ma be continuous compressilile and extens1 le springs from head to feet, so that if the toy is drop (1 to the 95 floor on its head or feet or ona fours it will bounce.

My invention is shown in several embodiments in the followin description and apnded drawings, in w ich:

Fig. 2 is a partial section'of a doll showing a dense rubber covering on the 1e and feet. Fig. 3 is a'combined sheet 0 raw solid as or dense rubber and raw sponge rubber.

Referring to the vdrawings; the compressible and extensible spring anatomy 1 may be of springs of uniform strength throughout, or may have stifl'er parts between joints (0 and more flexible parts at the joints and may be embedded in any position in any part of the body of a doll, marionette or toy in which the body is composed .of flesh material of soft, flexible or elastic nature, preferably of molded sponge rubber 2, with the spots such as the feet 7 subjected to most wear preferably reinforced with solid or dense rubber 3 and the whole covered b the skin formed in molding the sponge ru her or a skin of solid rubber 4, as shown in Fig. 2, or of any other flexible or elastic material. 5 is a half mold and is shown with the doll 6 in place. The ends of the compressible and extensible s ring anatomy 1 may be fastened in the so id rubber wearing ieces.3 in the head and feet and the solid ru ber be used to bounce the doll or toy on.

The solid rubber skin 4 may be placed raw in the mold and vulcanized to the sponge rubber 2 at one heat or may be of cured rubber placed in the mold with the sprin anatomy 1 and head and feet ieces of soli rubber 3 and raw s onge rub r material 2 inside the cured rub r skin 4. In this case the sp e rubber material 2 will expand on while vu canizing and press the cured rubber skin 4 out against the surface of the mold and be vulcanized to the skin 4.

In Fi 3 is illustrated a section of raw rubber sleet 8 formed of a layer of sponge rubber mixture 2 and a layer of solid rubber mixture 4. This sheet 8 is laced in each half of the mold with the soli rubber side 4 against the mold 5 and is the preferred way to enclose the anatomy of the doll or toy in the spon 0 rubber, the anatomy being held in the mo] 5 in any of the ways shown in the original application.

I claim: I

1. In a bouncin doll an anatomy composed of compressi 1e and extensible springs and sponge rubber, said springs bein embedded in said s onge rubber, the atter thereby securing t e springs in position and addinlg to the resilience of the doll structure.

2. n a bouncing doll an anatomy composed of compressible and extensible springs and s nge rubber, said springs beingnembedde in said sponge rubber, the latter ereby securing the springs in position and addin .to the resilience of the doll structure, an said compressible and extensible springs being continuous from head to foot.
