Referring to the drawings, I have shown parts of a magazine frame 10 of the usual type supported upon the loom frame 11. A shuttle S and a portion of the lay 12 are also shown in the drawings. n
My improved thread cutter comprises a depending arm 13 mounted on a ixed pivot in a bracket 14 secured to the magazine 10. A lever 15 is pivoted at 16 to the arm 13 and is yieldingly held in the position shown in Fig. 1 by a coil spring 17 mounted between the arm 13 and the upper end 18 of the lever 15. A rearwardly projecting portion 19 of the arm 13 is yieldingly connected by a link 2O to an 'arm 21 upon a cross shaft 22 mounted in fixed bearings in the magazine frame 10.

The ,toggle -member;35 includes a block 36 A gned to hold fthe toggle firmly although yielding-ly against displacement Vin `bot-hof its v4two positions.
.The member '35 is ,connectedyto 'anarm 36 from-.which a .link ,.37a extends. to a latch, ,not shown, by which the transferrer is actuated.
Under normal running conditions, the parts are in the position shown in Fig. 1, in which the shuttle placer or roll 32 will engage the shuttle as the loom `approaches yfront center. If the shuttle is widely misplaced, the link 2O will yield to permit the placer to be swung forward and thus prevent breakage of parts.
Upon indicatinn of transfer, the thread cutter and placer are swung rearward to grasp and cut the thread at an earlier point in the forward movement of the lay, simultaneously boxing the shuttle.
1f the shuttle is so widely misplaced that the cam-like action of the roll 32 is not suliicient to move the shuttle to correct position, the shuttle placer and thread cutter will be swung forward as previously described, at the same time lowering the link 37 and its associated latch out of the path of the bunter or actuating device carried by the lay.- My
usual operation of the transfer' mechanism.
From this description, it will be seen that I have provided a very simple combined thread cutter and shuttle placer which is normally in forward position and which is moved. rearward to render the cutter operative only upon indication of transfer.
Furthermore, I have provided such a structure which also acts to revoke the transfer when engaged by a widely misplaced shuttle. The parts are of simple construe* tion and move -in a single plane about a fixed pivot, distinguishing` my invention in this respect from tlre structure shown in the prior patent to McGuinness No. 1,261,417, 'issued April 2, i918.
Having thus described my invention, I do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed otherwise than as set forth in the claims, but what I claim is l, In a loom having a weft carrier magazine, a lay-and a shuttle, in combination a depending supporting member mounted on a pivot on said magazine and swinging downward in the path of the advancing shuttle, said member having movement in a single plane only and substantially perpendicular to tlre path of the shuttle, a shuttlc positioning roll mounted on said member to rotate about a substantially vertical axis when in operative position, said member and roll having a normal forward inoperative position, and means to move said parts rearward upon indication of weft carrier transfer to position said roll for engagement by a misplaced shuttle.
2. In a loom having a weft carrier magazine, a lay and a shuttle, in combination a Lease/is depending supporting member mounted on a pivot on said magazine and swinging downward in the path of the advancingshuttle, said member having movement in a single plane only and substantially perpendicular to the path of the shuttle, a shuttle positioning roll mounted on said member to rotate about a substantially vertical axis when in operative position, said member and roll having a normal forward inoperative position, and means to move said parts rearward upon indication of weft carrier transfer to position said roll for engagement by a misplaced shuttle, said part-s being effective to revoke the transfer when engaged by a widely misplaced shuttle. l
