IMPROVEMENT IN SPRING BED-BOTTOMS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 163,356, dated May 18, 1875; application filed March 29, 1875.
of the arched slats, all so as to make easy and durable springs.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved bed-spring, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the arched slats, which are supported at the ends on the cross-bars B on tie-rods O, on which are rubber springs D, between said ba-rs and the head-block E, to allow bars B to move back a little under the end pressure of the slats, and to move them up when the pressure slacks, for increasing the range and sensitiveness of the slats. F represents the upper horizontal slats, which are fastened to the arched slats A at the crown of the arch and rest at the ends on coiled springs G, which are supported on the restsB of the arched slats. These upper slats support the mattress, while the springs A, D, and G give the elasticity required, making a very easy and sensitive bed.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pateut 1. The combination of arched slats A, rests B, springs D, tie-rods O, and the head-blocks E, substantially as specified.
2. The combination of slats F and springs G with the arched slats A and movable rests B, substantially as specified.
