The present invention relates to an adjustable drop light cord holder and aims to provide a device which may be easily and readily associated with drop light cords for holding 5 the ends thereof at a desired height.

Another very important object of the invention lies in the provision of a device of this nature which is very handy, easy to operate, simple-in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, durable, not likely to easily become out of order, thoroughly eificient and reliable in operation, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as. the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts 20 as will be hereinafter more-fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawing in. detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes an electric fixture of the well known ceiling type having the drop light cord 6 suspended therefrom in the usual well known manner. My im roved bracket is denoted generally by the etter B and includes a body vertical plate 7 merging at its upper end into a right angular extension 8 and at its lower end in an oblique extension 9 disposed in an oppotension 8 is provided with an aperture 10 so that a suitable fastening element 11 may pass therethrough and be engaged with the fixture 5, this preferably being a fastening element which holds the fixture in place though not necessarily so. The extension 9 is provided with a V-shaped notch 12 the side edges of which'are angular so as to form a comparatively wide entrance. The body plate 7 is constructed with a rectangular opening 14;. -Ears 15 project from the centers of the longitudinal edges of the plate body 7 in the same general direction with the extension 8 and have journaled therein a shaft 16 on which is mounted a sheath 17 projecting into the openings 14. On the clevis there is attached a clamp 26 which is engaged about an intermediate portion of the extension cord or drop cord 6. The chain is trained through the eye or ring 20. It will be seen that the cord 24 may be pulled thereby moving the chain on the sheath 17 to pull upwardly on the drop cord 6 to raise the light or like device at the lower end thereof and then the chain may be caught in the V-shaped notch 12 so that the parts will retain their adjusted position. It is thought that the construction and operation of the device will now be quite apparent advantages.

Having thus described my invention what 1. A device of the class described includmg, in combination, a bracket including a vertical body plate having a lateral extension at its upper end and a lateral extension in the opposite direction at its lower end,

the lower extension being provided with a notch, the body plate being provided with an opening, a sheath, means for journaling the sheath on the plate body so as to register with the openings, a chain trained over the sheath and engageable with the notch.
