F rom the foregoing it will be apparent that a simple, strong and durable electrical connection is provided which is particularly adapted for use on vacuum cleaners and other electrically operated machines `havinga hingedt opera-ting handleV that carries electrical conductors connected with the machine motor. coiled spring 36 will maintain the contacts Qa'aiid 28 in rubbing contact and hence in proper electrical engagement irrespective of any wearing ot the parts ot they handle hinge or any wearing ofthe contacts theinselves, and that the contacts are well insulated from the metallic parts ot tlie inachine handle and casing. The parts ot the connection may be easily assembled and taken, lapart upon removing the pivot bolt 12.
VAs will be evident to those skilledin the art, my invention permits of various modifications without departing from 4the spirit thereof or the scope oi the appendedclaims.
What I claim is l. The combination of two members hav' ing a hinged connection betweentheincomprising two adjacent perforated lugs located on said members, respectively, and apivot pin extending through an aperture in each lug, terminal contacts arranged side by side and located on the saine side of both of said lugs and surrounding said pivot pin, connections between said terminal contacts and said members to causer them to turn with said members, respectively, about the axis of said pvot pin, one of said connections comprising a block of insulating' materialV arranged at the oppositeside of said contacts Vfrom both of said lugs and mounted to slide axially on said pivot pin and revolve with the far lug, a
spring acting on the block to cause it to cooperate with the nearest lug to yieldinglyypress said. contacts toward each other, said block being located between said spring and the nearest of said terminalfcontacts and insulating said spring froinfsaidA `terminal contacts, and electrical conductorsf'secured to Vsaid contacts and carried by their? associated A members, respectively.
Y 2. The combination oftwo members hav-1 ing a hinged connection between them comprisingrtwo lugs mounted upon said members,
respectively, a pivot pin, terniinal Vcontact-s' arranged side by side on the 'same'side of vboth ot said lugs and surrounding said pivot pin. means for causing said contacts to turn electrical conductors secured to said contacts It will also be apparent that the l Ving a'. hinged connectionbetween them com spring-pressed block and cause said block to presssaid "contacts toward each other, and
and carried their associated members, re-

The combination of'two members havpijising two pairs of lugs having their corresponding elements mounted on said'members, respectively, a pivot pin, two pairs of terminal contacts spaced apart and mounted loiirsaid pivot pin between said pairsof lu with the contacts of each pair arranged sid by sidein electrical contact, and Iadapted to be relatively turned about the axis of thel pivotpin, connections between one of the contacts'of each pair and oneof saidmem bers comprising two blocks loosely mounted on'said pivot pin having connections with said member for holding the blocks from ti'iriiing-niovement with relation to said one v member and having connections with said contact of each pair to hold said contacts and the other hinged member, a spring coiled about the pivot pin and arranged between 10.5 the blocks or pressing the blocks outwardly in opposite directions, abut'inents surround- A ing the pivot pin and-lcooperating'with the blocks to hold the contacts-of each lpair in electrical engagement, and`| electrical conductors secured to said contacts and carried by their associated members, respectively.
4t. The combination'of two members having a hinged connection betweeny themcomprising two pairs of `lugs having their corresponding elements-mounted on said mem-N bers, respectively, a pivot pin,` two pairsof terminal contacts spaced apart and mounted on said pivot pin betweensaid pairs of lugs 120 with the contacts of each pair arranged side by side in electricall cont-act and adapted to" befrelatively turned aboutthe axis of the `pivot pin,\connections,between one of `the contacts oteach pair Aand one of said mem- 125 'bers comprising two blocks movable in a direction parallel to the axis of said pivot pin and havin u suitableV connections with said last mentioned member 4for holding. them from turning movement with relation to said member, and having connections with said Contact of each pair to hold said contacts from turning movement with relationto said blocks and said member, connections between 5 the other terminal contact of each pair and the other hinged member, means for yieldingly pressing the blocks outwardly in oppositev directions, abutments cooperating with the .blocks to hold the contacts of each pair in electrical engagement, and electrical conductors secured to said contacts and carried iby their assooiated'hinged members, respec-
