I PACKAGE.

This invention relates to packages in general and more particularly to containers designed to pack a plurality of cigars manufactured in the shape of a curved pipe forming the subject matter of my United States application for Design Patent No. 18,913, Aug. 31, 1926.

It is the object of this invention to pro vide a container for cigars of the shape referred to which will serve not only to pack a plurality of cigars securely, but also form an attractive display container forthem.

Further objects will appear.

Fig. 1 is'a perspective view of the pack age with the lid open showing the box thereof filled with cigars shaped as mentioned above.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the package with the lid thereof closed.

Fig.3 is a cross section of the package showing the various parts thereof in closed position with full layers of cigars packed therein.

In the drawing, there is shown a box 1, rectangular in plan with the rectangular front 2 and back 3 of the same length but ofv different widths, the ends lthereof having their upper ends shaped to conform to the contour of the top layer of the packed cigars and extend above said layer sufliciently to insure the top 6 of the lid 7 lying flush with the tops of said ends when the lid is closed. The lid. which may behinged to either the front or back of the box, is.

shown as hinged to the back thereof and is provided with eyelet 8, adapted to spring over the end of a'headed nail or screw 9 to hold the lid in closed position.

In order to hold the packed cigars in the most convenient position for insertion and removal from the box 1, the latter is pro vided with a molded support-l0 which may be of cardboard or other suitable material.

shape of the cigars and is provided with a straightreinforced member 11,.which fitting snugly against the inside of a front tube, serves not only to prevent buckling of the support 10, but also acts as. a solid support for the ends of" the cigars whichgwould be handled most the box. v l

lVhat I claim is: 1. A package container for curved articles comprising a box having, the inner side of in packaging or removal from the bottom thereof shaped to conform to the contour of the curved article which forms the lower layer of the contents of said box.

2. A packaging container for curved arti cles comprising a'box having the bottom thereof shaped to conform to the contour of the curved article which forms the lower and top hinged to said box the contour of the upper layer of the packed curved article and to contact therewith when closed,
