This invention. relates to animproved gate and seeks, among other objects, to provide a novel gatestructure wherein the gate may be opened by a vehicle approaching the gate, and,after the vehicle has passed through, again closed by the vehicle.
The invention seeks, 'as a Q to provide a novel mounting for the. gate whereby the gate may be caused to swing to open or closed positioni And the invention seeks,'as a still further objectfto provide an improved 'and simple operating mechanism forthe gate. Other objects of the invention not above specifically mentionedwill appear'asthe description proceeds. In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a plan view of'my improved gate.

Referring now more particularly to the V drawings, wherein I have illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, the numerals l0 and 11 indicate suitable gate posts at opposite'sides of a roadway. Fixed to the post 10 are vertically alined brackets 12, which may be formed of eye bolts or screw eyes and journaled through the eyes of said brackets is a crank shaft 13. Extending from the shaft near its upper end is a long crank 14, and extending'from the shaft near its lower end is a short crank 15, the shaft and said cranks being an integral structure. in parallel relation to extend laterally from the shaft and at their outer ends, are provided with upstanding trunnions 17. As will be observed, the cranks rest on the brackets 12 for supporting the shaft 13 against downward movement.
The gate is lndicated at 18. This gate preferably comprises a rigid metal frame 19, and fixedeto one end of the frame near the upper edge of'the gate is a short hinge bracket 20 apertured to fit over thejtrunnion 17 of the long crank 14, While near the lower edge of the gate is provided a long hinge bracket 21 apertured to fit over.

These sills are] preferably'of cement, although other suitable material may be employed. Mounted upon the sill 26'is a crank-rod 28 having cranks 29' and 30 disposed at substantially a rightangle to each-other, and mounted upon -the'sill'27 is a crank rod 31 having similarly disposed cranks 32 and I J ournaling the rods are pairs of bearings 34 which are disposed close at opposite sides of the cranks of thelrods and are bolted or otherwise secured to the sills 26 and 27.
