LEWIS H. KERNsoF GREENVILLE, oHIo.
- KEY-RING HOLDER.
Application filed November 4, 1925. Serial No. 66,840.
This invention relates to improvements in p substantially offset and adapted for fricif tional and contacting engagement with a spring finger struck from the major portion of the strip whereby the key ring .thus supported upon the hook may not become accidentally displaced therefrom or lost.
LU lVith the above and other. objects in View, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
1n the drawing 1 Y u Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevation of a belt showing my present invention applied thereto. Y
Figure Q is a perspective view of my invention per se. y
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
` Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote correspending parte, the reference character V10 indicates a fragmentary portion of a belt to which my present invention is applied and has application upon.V
The. invention` residing in the provision of a relatively Hat resilient strip of metal as indicated at 11 being bent upon itself upon its upper end as indicated at 12 in forming a spaced parallel stripl?) extending rearf wardly of the strip 11 and beingsubstantially offset adjacent its lower end yand securedto the corresponding rear side of the strip 11 as indicated at- 15. y Y
The lower free Vend of the strip 11 terminating` in an upwardly and outwardly eX- tending hook 16 for the reception of a keyV rino' of the usual and conventional form as indicated at 17 thereon.Y
.tlierethrough, a
In order to., provide a locking means upon the strip 11 for association with` the hook 16 in retaining the ring 17 against accidental displacement. when so arranged upon the hook 16, I provide a spring'lnger 18 secured to the forward side of the strip 11 and terminating in a downwardly and outwardly extending end portion 19 for contacting. and frictional engagement withthe inner and upper outwardly extending end portions 16.
In the mode'otl operation of the present inkvention `it is clearly apparent and Ymanifest rthat owing to the provision of a loop thus formed by the bending of the strip 11 upon itself in forming the spaced parallel strip 13 extending rearwardly thereofand secured in 'the manner described to the corresponding side of the strip 11 that the necessary loop is thus formed for the reception of a wearers belt as indicated at 10 therebetween which owing to the construction thereof permitting sliding movement of the holder upon the belt but eliminating any possibility of its accidental displacement or theft therefrom. Owing to the construction and association of the hook 16 Yand the spring finger 18 provided upon the strip 11 it is to be noted that a spring latch or lock is thus completed in securing the key ring 17 within and upon the hook 16 whereby the key 1ipg 17 is ldeprived of any possibility of loss upon the hook Y16. l l y The invention kis susceptible of various changes inits form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make'such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appendedV claim.
Having describedmy invention what isclaimed is z-` Y A key ring holder of the character described comprising a resilient'strip forming a closed elongated attaching loop upon its upper end for'theV reception of a users belt supporting hook depending therefrom having its free end curved outwardly, and a spring finger provided upon the forward side of the strip and having its lower end bent outwardly to frictionally engage the upper free end and Vinner side of the supporting'hook. 'A f f In testimony whereof IaiiiX my signature.
