4 1,618,623 S. W. ZIEMBINSK' BROOM AND MOP HANGER Filed 0ct.'6. 1925 Patented Feb. 22, 1927."
warren STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SIGMUD W. ZIEM BINSKI, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BROOM AND MOP HANGER.
Application filed October 6, 1926. Serial No. 139,787.
is to provide a hanger of this nature, simple and positive in operation and inexpensive Y yet substantial in construction.
Other important objects and novel features in construction of my invention will become apparent as. the specification proceeds.
Referring to the drawings forming a part of this specification;
Figure 1 is a view in perspective of one embodiment of my invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 2,-2, Fig. 1 and V Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 3-3, Fig. 2. Referring to the drawings in detail, 5 indicates a casing provided with an extending flange or base 6 having ears 7 at its upper and lower ends provided with holes or open from the wall 15.
ings 8 through which screws 9 may be in sorted to secure same to a wall 10 of a room or closet. A bar 11 having reduced ends 12 fitting into openings 13 in the top and bottom walls 14 and 15 of the casing 5, is angularly maintained on the inside'of the said casing by the aforementioned. connections and, by a strip 16 secured by screws 17 to the lower portion of the flange 6 depending A bracket 20having a slideway 21 in its base 22 is slidingly mounted on the inclined bar 11 and is provided with a forwardly extending arm- 23 extending through a vertical slot or opening 24: substantially the entire length of the front wall 25 of the casing 5 and terminates in an arm 26 bent at right angles to the arm 23 and is provided with a tapering recess 27 adapted to-maintain therein a gripping pad 28 made of. any suitable material such as rpbber or the like." v
With a device as described above it becomes a simple matter to suspend a broom, mop or. the like and prevent such'articles from resting on the floor, and allowing such articles and mops in particular to dry and be kept in a clean and sanitary condition and preventing such'mops from soiling the floor as was heretofore the case when no such suspension means was provided.
Fromrthe foregoing it will be seen that my device is simple and eflicient in operation and that all that is necessary to do, to suspend-a mop or the like by means of my improved device, is to insert the handle 30 of such a mop upwardly through the bottom of the device between the front wall 25 of the casing and the rubber gripping pad 28 and the bracket or slide 20 Willmove upwardly until the handle fits into the space between the said walland pad and the mop or other similar article will be positively supported therein by its own weight drawing the slide downwardly on the inclined bar 11. A slight upward pressure on the handle 30 will release same and allow of its being removed from the hanger. Various modifications and changes may be made in the arrangement and construction of the various parts of this device without departing from the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention what I clalm as new 1s:
1. A hanger, comprising a casing, having a slot in one wall thereof, a bar angnlarly supported in the said casing. a bracket slidably mounted on the bar and a bent arm on the bracket extending through the said slot forming a space between itself and thesaid wall to frictionally hold a handle or the like.
2. A hanger, comprising a casing havmg a slot in one wall thereof, a barangularly supported in the said casing, a bracket slldablp mounted on thebar, a bent arm on the bracket extending through the said slot forming a space between itself and the said wall to frictionally hold ahandle or the likeand a pad :on the arm forming means for gripping the handle. i
