LIGATURE-DISPENSING CAP.
Application filed July 29, 1925. Serial No. 46,721. i
This invention relates to improvements in ligature dispens ticularly to a cap ing devices, and more parfor tubes containlng tooth paste, and serving as a dispenser for an teeth.
or yarn commonand used for rethe The object of the invention is to provide a convenient means for dispensing the hgature, by ut1lizing a container whlch also serves as the cap of a tube of dentifrice,
thereby incorporating the requirements for complete tooth modity cleansing in a single comwith the attendant advantage or benefit of promoting their more general use. The novel features of the invention are disclosed in the which- Figure 1 is accompanying drawings, in
a view in elevation of an ordinary tube of tooth paste with the cap applied Figure 2 is an enlarged detail view of the cap in cross section; and

designed, is a holof a metal suitable for the purpose, its external conformation varying accordlng to the degree of ornamentation desired.
In general, the cap consists of an internally threaded base portion 1 which screws onto the threaded neck a of the tube A containin tooth paste or other tooth cleansing prepai ation. A
bove the base portion is a hollow receptacle 2, the walls thereof converging to an apex and forming a cavlty in which a spool 3 of the ligature is enclosed. At the apex of the receptacle is a small opening 4 ligature 1s through which the free end of the threaded to be withdrawn in such lengths as needed.
The spool 3 preferably consists of a cir cular base plate 5, in which is mounted a spindle 6 on which the ligature is tightly and compactly wound, and in such a manner that it will unwind freely as it is drawn through the opening.
The preferab le method of constructing and assembling the cap is to make the spindle with its base plate separate from the body of the cap, and having -wound the ligature on the spindle, to insert the spool assembly upwardly through the opening at the base of the cap, the plate 5 seating against a shoulder at the base of the threaded socket Which forms the closure for the tube A. The metal being relatively soft, the plate is readily wedged in place and thecap is complete.
These caps may be either sold as a part of the tube or separately to be substituted for the ord nary tube cap, this being a matter of choice.
It is contemplated that approximately five yards of ligature can be Wound onto the spool and thus afford an ample supply.
As an added convenience, a
forming a 010 sure for said tube and a substantially conical hollow body portion su'rmounting said base' portion and provided with an opening in its apex, a spindle mounted in said body member and a length of ligature wound on said spindle and having its free end extending through the opening in said body 2. The combination with a collapsible tube having a threaded discharge neck of a cap comprising a hollow body having a threaded portion at one end, and a small opening at its opposite end, aplate fixed transversely of said body and forming a cap portion and separate dispensing cavity, a
spindle fixed to said plate and extending into said cavity, a length of ligature wound on said spindle with its free end passing through said opening.
Signed at P 1925.
