A sofa bed7 comprising a sofa frame embodying side members and a hinged back member; a seat supported between the side members; a vertical casing behind the sofa frame and having an open front, the lower part of which is normally closed by the back member oi' said frame; a mattress frame removably arranged in the casing and adapted to be swung outwardly through the front of said casing into horizontal position after said hinged back member has been swung forward and downward; and a board hinged to the mattress frame and adapted to close the upper part of the casing 'front when said mattress frame is disposed therein, and to support the front end or' the mattress .trame when the latter is in horizontal position.
