This invention relates to ,a slidingreceptaclef, particularly, although notl exclusively,

adapted to receivev garbage and to. beat- -tached beneath the drain boardI of a kitchen sink.

Heretofore,.as iswellknown, it hasbeen customary to provide., foraminous garbage receptacleswhich are merely placedfin.V or hung over kitchenV sinks; refuse for which these receptacles are intendedconsists ofv small particles, which pass through the sieve-likeqbottoms of the-receptacles. and then into` the drainI pipe, this practice frequently results-in clogging the. drain withresulting inconvenience and eX- pensive'repairs. Y ceptacles in commonuse are unsightly, occupy `valuable. space, and cause damage toA the sink by wearing or surface thereof.

It is my object' to obviate'these undesirablel characteristics; byyprovid'ing means adapted to support a refuse receptacle on the bottom of a dra-in board where: it isconcealed' and j instant-V.

Another object is to provide in a device of this kind a bracket which will securely engage the receptacle andV at the same time permit it to be easily detached to be dumped or cleansed. VThis invention also includes certain other novel features Vof construction Y which will be hereinafter more fully pointed out. Y

As willnowbe readily understood, the receptacle 19 may, by manipulating the handle be movedto either the retracted position shown in dotted lines in Figure 1 or extended to the full-line position shown iii said figure, the bracket 18 being slidably supported by the overhanging rivets 2O on the guide flanges 16. l/Iovement of the bracket and receptacle on the flanges 16 is limited by the stops 17. Vlien in the retractedfpositioii shown in dotted n lines in Figure 1, the receptacle 19 cannot be removed from the` bracket 18 because of the proximity of the guide bar 10 which prevents upward movement or the receptacle. Thus, it is impossible to'accidently knock the receptacle off its support. However, when the device is extended, the receptacle 19 may be quickly and easily removed from its supe porting bracket 18 .ifor any desired purpose, as for emptying refuse. 1

Vhile I have shown my invention `attached to the bottom of drain board of a sink, and prefer to so mount it because of tie convenience in attaching it tothe lugs 12 termed on said board, it willbe evident that the devicemight besecured to the bottom of the sink proper or to the bottom` of a table top, if so desired, and any suoli arrangement is considered within the scope Yoic my invention.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to'protectvby Letters Pat-ent is 1. In a support foragarbage receptacle,

a bar adapted to be rigidly mounted iii fix-ed, substantially horizontal position beneath the drain board of a sink or the like having a Vdownwardly projecting lug, a laterally projecting flange on said bar constituting a guide, an upwardly projecting member on said bar adapted to oifset said ange from' the drain board of a sink or the like having a downwardly projecting lug, a substantially horizontal, laterally projecting flange on said bar constituting 'aguide, an upwardly projecting member on said bar adapted to oiiset said Vflange from a supporting drain board, saidrbar having a longitudinal slot for a bolt and being adapted to be rigidlyl secured to said lug by a bolt passed through' j said slot, a slidable member extendingrlongitudinally beneath said flange and slidably supported thereon and means'carried on an end of said slidable member for movably supporting a receptacle directly beneath said guide whereby said receptacle may be carried to a position projecting from an edge oi said board or retracted to a position beneath said guide.
