GRIDDLE GREASEB.
Application filed January 28, 1924. Serial No. 689,059.
This invention comprises a handle 1 provided with a ferrule or tubular extension 2 at one end thereof, this said extension being threaded interiorly as shown at 8. A rag securing bell 4 is provided the samehaving an elongated tubular shank 8 whichis rotatively anchored in the extension 2 in any conventional manner. A bit 5 is provided, having a threaded shank 6 adapted to be inserted through the bell l and'tubular shank 8 into the extension 2 where it is held by threaded engagement. By holding the bit 5 and hell 4 against rotation and rotating the handle 1, the threaded shank 6 is either projected outwardly through the tubular shank 8 or is drawn inwardly, depending upon the direction of rotation of the handle 1.
In use the bit 5 is first projected outwardly by turning the handle 1 as described; after which one end of the rag 7 is caught upon the bit 5 and the entire rag 1S then wound upon the bit. The bit 5 and a portion of the attached rag are then drawn into the bell 4 by reversing tierotation of the handle 1; whereby the rag is firmly locked into place. It is thus apparent that I have provided a device 01" the kind described embodying means for easily and quickly attaching or detaching the rag, as and for the purpose intended, and while I have herein described a certain specific method of constructing and assembling the elements of my invention, it is understood that I may vary the same in minor details, not departing from the spirit of my invention, as defined in the appended claims. 7
in the drawing Figure l is an elevation of the devicewith a rag attached;
Figure 2 is an elevation with the rag re- 40 moved; r i I Figure 3'is an end view regarding the instrument from the bit end; v i I Figure 4 is a detail of the bit detached from the handle and showing the threaded shank;
Figure 5 is anend viewofthe handlev showing the rag securing bell;
Figure (5 is a detail of the handle, a por tion being broken out to show the threaded 5 bore therein; 7 i r v Figure 7 is a detail of a strip of rag as adapted to serve as a swab on this device.
I claim: v
1. In a griddle greaser a device of the kind described, comprising a handle; an interiorly threaded ferrule at one end of the handle; a rag securing bell having an elongated tubular shank rotatively anchored I in the said ferrule; and a bit adapted for engagement by a removable rag having a" threaded shank adapted to pass through the said bell and tubular shank and threadedly engage the said threaded ferrule for securing said removable rag. i r
2. In a griddle greaser a device of the kind described, comprising a handle; a rag securing bell having an elongated tubular 1 shank rotatively anchored to the handle, a
bit adapted for engagement by a removable rag having a shankadapted to pass through the bell and into the tubular shank; and means for projecting the-bit and its shank outwardly or drawing same inwardly, as de sired for securing or removing said re- 7 movable rag.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
