To this end my invention consists in the novel construction,arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described, and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

The game of bowling or tenpins need not be described herein in det-ail, it being understood that the pins are set up in the desired relation and the ball or the like rolled or thrown into the same in an Vendeavor to knock them down.'A In order to setthe pins up accurately and space them before bowling against them and to stop the ball and pins when thrown at the pins, I have provided acombined setter and stop. i

As shown, l represents a plate preferably of sheet metal or the like of the desired size and gauge of material. This is provided with a flange 2 at one side and with a flange or depending prongs 3-3 at the opposite side so that when the device is used as a pin setter it may be turned down and be supported above the floor or table by the flanges 2 and 8, the flange 2 supporting the same when set up as a back stop. Plate l is provided with side wings 4 which are prefer-l ably flanged at the bottom as indicated at k5, corresponding with the flange 2. .The

The'pins may" be set in loosely or even carelessly (for example, see the tilted pin in Fig. 4) but may be all brought upright and in order by merely slightly sliding the setter on its supports.

I have shown the ball 9, which may be an ordinary marble, adapted to be thrown or rolled against the pins. Using the device, thesame is set substantially as shown in Figs. l and 4, and the pins set in thev holes, after which the setter may be lifted up and 'set up in back, as shown in Figs, 2 and 3. Owing to the slightly rounded openings through the flanges 7, the pins while. set accurately, are not tipped over easily in removing the setter. Should the ball 9 or any of the pins strike the backstop, as usually is the case, it is found that the backstop not being fixed or rigid, acts substantially as a cushion, absorbing the force of the blow and ordinarily shifting its position very slightly if at all. There is, therefore, no rebound from the backstop of the ball or the pin which has been struck, so that they do not fly back and knock Idown other pins.

The device is likewise. compact, as well as attractive, and may be shipped or kept in a small boX with the pins and ball or easily carried about. While the same may be made any Adesired shape, it is usually made comparatively small so that it is compact and may be easily handled, but for games on thelawn or in larger areas, the stop, pins and ball may be made larger and heavier. The regulation rules covering bowling or tenpins may be employed and the score kept in the same manner as in a large game, and, in fact, tournaments or the like may be played with a miniature set with the same y being ten pins, although more or less may be Y employed 1f desired. As most'clearly shown hence I do not wish to be understood asV limiting myself to the exact form, construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described or uses mentioned.

lli/*hat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a game of the kind described and in combination, a plate provided with a supporting flange at one edge and with wings at opposite ends bent slightly forward provided with flanges at the bottom, said plate having a plurality of openings through the body thereof and provided with rounded flanges at the openings.

2. In a game of the kind described and in combination, a stamped sheet metal plate provided with supporting flanges and with wings at opposite ends bent slightly forward provided with fianges at the bottom edge,

said plate provided with a plurality of spaced openings through the same and flanged about the openings, a plurality of cooperating pins, and a ball.

3. In a game ofthe kind described and in combination, a stamped sheet metal plate provided with a flange and with integral wings at opposite endsbent slightly forward provided with flanges at the bottom edge thereof, said flanges cooperating to support the plate on any suitable object, the object being easily movable relative to the object and being provided with a plurality of spaced openings, a plurality of cooperating pins, and a ball.

4. In a game of the. kind described and in combination, a stamped sheet metal plate provided with supporting flanges and provided with a plurality of spaced openings through the same, said plate being flanged around the openings, a plurality of cooperating pins, and a ball.
