This invention relates to an improved picture particularly adapted for use upon windows, and doors, for interior shade hanging and ornamental purposes.

More specifically, the invention has reference to a picture which embodies a pair of duplicate parts movable toward and from each other, and adapted to be clamped tightly against the frame, these parts being provided with adjustably mounted brackets for supporting curtain rods and shades.

One advantage of the above construction is that the structure is such as to entirely obviate the necessity of employing fastenings to be driven in the woodwork of the frame as is ordinarily necessary.

Another feature is that the structure is adapted to be placed in window and door frame openings of various widths and heights, and after the device is set, to permit additional adjustments of the brackets to be made to accurately accommodate the desired size of shade.

Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description and drawing.

In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same:

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a portion of a window and its frame showing the improved picture mounted thereon, a portion of the picture being shown in section to disclose the details of construction more plainly.

Figure 2 is an enlarged detail section taken approximately upon the plane of the line 22 of Figure 1 looking downwardly.

Figure 3 is a detail perspective View of one of the parts clamped against the window frame.

The parts last referred to are generally designated by the reference character 1, and by noting Figure 3 it will be seen that it is preferably of right angular form, the same comprising a front plate 2, and a side flange 3. The flange is comparatively short and terminates at a point adjacent the center of the plate. The extended portion of the plate is constructed to provide guide ways for a pair of superposed slides 4c and 5. A window shade bracket 6 is carried by the slide 1, While a curtain bracket 7 is carried by the slide 5. The flange 3 is formed with a central polygonal socket 8 and with a bore?) adapted for reception of a removable retaining pin 10 of the t clearly in Figure 2. As beiore stated, there are two of these parts 1, and means 1s mterposed between them for simultaneously moving the same toward or from each other to clamp them tightly against the wood work of the frame, or to permitthe entire device to be bodily removed. The means preferably comprises a rod embodying a relatively long sleeve 11 at the center of which is an appropriately fixed internally screw threaded coupling 12, the threads of which are dis posed in opposite directions, for reception of right and left hand threads of a pairof stems 13 which are located therein. These stems are carried by extensible rods 14: ex tending through and beyond the sleeve 11. The outer ends of the rods are reduced and are of polygonal cross section as at 15 for reception in the aforesaid sockets 8. lVhen fitted in place the removable retaining pins are passed through the bore 9, and the opening formed in said extension. It is yet to be pointed out that each part 1 carries an extra shade bracket 16.

In practice, the parts 1 are placed against the window frame, as indicated more plainly in Figure 1. When in place, the plates 2 rest against the facing of the window frame, while the flanges 3 bear against the side boarding of the frame as better represented in Figure 2. The ends of the rods 14 are pinned in the sockets 8 to hold the structure in assembled relation. Now the tube or sleeve 11 may be turned to feed the bolts 1a in or out, as desired, to bind the parts 1 and 2 against the window frame. Under this arrangement the device may be moved up or down the frame to the desired point or may be adjusted to accommodate any desired width of frame. Furthermore, it does not require any fastening such as would serve to mar the woodwork. When the parts are in the position shown in Figure 2, the slides 4 and 5 may be adjusted to accommodate a curtain rod, a window shade, or the like. The bracket 16 may also serve to accommodate an additional shade. The brackets may be of any usual construction.

The foregoing and other features and advantages will doubtless .be apparent after considering the description in connection with the drawings, therefore a more lengthy description is thought unnecessary.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been shown, it is to be understood that various changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resor ed to Without departing from the spirit of the in vention and scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described the invention, What I claim new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is A bracket for WlDClOW fixtures, comprising a unitary body member having opposite end portions arranged in angular relation, one end portion beingformed with a polygonal opening and a bore intersecting said opening in angular relation thereto, and an extension from one side of the other end of said body and having plurality of transversely extending slots formed therein, said polygonal opening receiving a means for securing the bracket to a Window frame retained by a pin positioned in the bore, and the slotin said extension adjustably receiving curtain brackets for mounting a curtain above the upper end of the opening in the WlDClOW frame.
