IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED ICE PICKS AND STRAINERS.

Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 159,545, dated February 9, 1875; application iiled November 25, 1874.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS HAGERTY, `of the city, county, and State of N ew York, have made a new and valuable Improvement in a Combined Ice Pick and Strainer, simple and efficient in construction and use, and of great utility, and which consists in the construction ot' the device, whereby the ice may be broken, and then lifted and strained, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and pointed out by the claim; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, with letters of reference marked thereon, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is .a perspective view of a device embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 is a plan view of a modified form of the same.

B represents the handle, of any convenient form, the lower end of which is provided with a spoon-shaped dish, A, having a suitable number of perforations, a, and terminating with teeth or picks D.

In use, the picks D are used to break the ice, when it may be gathered in the spoon,

shaped dish A, and, by allowing water to run over the ice, the dirt and water will pass out through the perforations c, leaving the ice in a clean condition.

Thus I provide in a simple device an ice pick, gatherer, and strainer, which is convenient, simple, and efficient, and durable in use.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat' ent, is-y As an improved article of manufacture, the device herein described, consisting of a haudle, B, spoon-shaped dish A,with perforations a, and picks D, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
