Description
Patented June 29, 1926.
Y application ined meente-r Tliis'invention relatesto bag packages and has relation more..particularly to al package especially` designed. and adapted -for use in connection with a dispensing, device of a 5. character; disclosed:in-my,` PatentNo.4 1,293;
@ plurality. of interfolded bagsltogether with means.V disposed arounds the. i unfolded fedges of the bags. for maintaimingfthe; package and wherein an end. bag. has lnterfolded therewith aimembe-rA or stripfto f facilitate: the initial extraction of a bag after the package. h as been applied within the dispensing device.-
It is also an object of the invention to provide a package of this kind comprising interfolded bags together with means disposed around the unfolded edges of the bags to maintain the package and wherein an end bag provides a flap to provide a guard or shield for the retaining means at such end of the package.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in' the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved bag package whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure l is a view-partly in section and partly in elevation illustrating a package constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invent-ion and in applied position within a dispensing device;
Figure 2 is a view in perspective illustrating my improved package in its initial assembly.
As herein disclosed, my improved package P comprises a plurality of bags yeach folded to provide two leaves of equal length with 1,7. 1925. serial-n0. 76,023.
a .leaffof each of Vsaid lfolded ,bagsv interposed betweeni the leaves of' the. adjacent bagland with the folded edges ot adja'cent-bags opposirtely arranged, saidfolded 'edges being comprisedinthe upper, and lower facesof the package when'the package is appliedwit-li-l inthe dispensing` device D.' of the package. whereby said` flap 31 servesv ask a, guard'or shi-eldjfor saidimember 1" for a purpose' which will'y hereinafter. be par; ticularly referred to. It is to be understoodA that the flap. Slis arrangedat what; is' tojbe termed'tlie` rear endfoffth'e package while the. connection 2Lfofi tlememberl 1. 1s at the- Interfolded with the front bag flap 4l at the front end of the package is a relatively broad strip 5 preferably of heavy paper and of a width materially less than the width of the package.
My improved package P is particularly adapted for use in connection with a dispensing device such as shown in my issued Patent No. 1,293,291 hereinbefore referred to and when applied within the body or boX portion 6 of such device, the follower spring 7 is placed under compression, said spring having contact with the inner bag flap 3. This spring 7 operates to force the package toward the discharge end of t-he body or box portion 6 and to continually maintain the folded bags in proper position with respect to the delivery opening 8.
When the package is initially applied within the body or box portion 6, the connection 2 for the member 1 is exposed through the delivery opening 8 so that the same may be readily accessible to release such connection and the member 1 withdrawn from around the package. The withdrawal of this member 1 will not be obstructed by the spring 7 as'this member 1 passes across the rear of the package inwardly of the rear end of the bag flap 3 and furthermore, the weight of the package will in no wise hinder such Withdrawal of the member l as the member is disposed around the sides of the package and is, therefore,
entirely free from the Weight of the package. After the member 1 has been Withdrawn, a digit, pencil or the like may be inserted through the delivery opening 8 and the outer portion of the strip 5 projected outwardly through such opening so thatiresultant pull upon said strip 5 Will draw the front flap 4e through the delivery opening 8. Vhile I have hereinbefore specifically referred to package bags it is to be kunderstood that the term bag is to include envelopes 'and kindred containers.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a bag package constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly Well adapted forv use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it maybe assembled and operated, and it Will also be obviousthat my invention is susceptible of some change and modification Without departing from the principles andr spirit thereof and kfor this reason l do not Wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
A container package for use in a dispensing body having a delivery` opening in its front Wall through Which the containers are Withdrawn and wherein a follower spring is placed under compression when the package is applied Within the body to force the package toward the discharge end of the body, said package comprising a plurality of folded containers, a leaf of one container extending between the leaves of adjacent containers, the folded edges of the containers being comprised in the upper and .lower faces of the package when the'package is applied Within the dispensing body, a flexible member disposed around the package and over the unfolded edges of the package, the extremities of the flexible member being tied at the front end of the package When applied Within the body, the outer leaf at the rear endof the package overlying the portion of the flexible member extending across the rear end of the package to provide a shield on the rear portion of the flexible member When the package is lirst applied Within the body andwith Which the follower spring directly contacts, the tied extremities of the flexible member being readily accessible When the package is initially applied through the delivery opening in the front Wall ofthe body.`
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
