COLLAPSIBLE WATER VEHICLE.
Application filed June 2, 1925, Serial No. 34,492, and in Germany November 10, 1924.
The collapsible water vehicle according to the invention composed of several hollow floating bodies and a frame in which the boat body is suspended. The boat body consists of a foldable l ag, the frame is foldable and the hollow floating end bodies are adapted to be inserted into the central bodies and the folded frame and boat body are stored in the hollow float. bodies.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a front elevation, the floating bodies being in cross section.

The boat is composed of two floating bodice 1 and 53, consisting each of three elements. The floating bodies are connected in the position ready for use by a foldable frame 3 and the whole forms a rigid system.
In the frame 3 a bag t is suspended which serves as body of the boat. The bag is attached to the horizontal rods of the frame and secured against oscillating. The bottom of the bag is stiffened by a foldaole grate 5.
The floating bodies each of hollow elements 9/, 2 which are water-tightly in the position of use but adapted to be telescoped the one into the other. The three elements of each floating body are connected with one another by groove and tongue connection. As shown in Fig. 3 the ends of element 1 are bent to form tongues and the corresponding elements of the two end elements 1 and 1 are bent to form grooves designed to receive said tongues. Between the tongues and grooves a rubber packing 6 is inserted. On the upper and lower surfaces of each element 1, 1, 1, a flap is 1 and 2 are composed 1', 1", 1", and 2', assembled soldered which is bent back at the free end to form an arm parallel to the surfac of the element and standing at a certain dis tance from the lined partof thetlap. A. clamp T is placed on each joint so that its ends grip over said bent ends of the flaps.
Each intermediate hollow body (1, 2) has a watertight partition 8, so that the floating bodies 1 and 2 comprise each two hollow spaces which are water-tightly separated the one from the other. The boat may be propelled in any convenient manner, for instance by a motor. To fold the boat up the frame 3 is removed from the floating bodies 1 and 2, the clamps 7 are removed and the elements 1 and 2 are inserted into the elements 1 or 2 and then inserted into the intermediate elements 1 and 2".
The frame 3 is folded and the bag 4 and grate 5 are rolled up so that they require as little space as possible and they are stored in the hollow elements 1 and 2". The oars which are eventually made of two parts are also stored in the hollow elements 1 and 2".
The floating vehicle according to the invention presents, in comparison with the known vehicles of this type (folding boats and the like) a number of advantages. The manufacturing is simple, cheap and durable.
The vehicle can be rapidly collapsed and folded together, it is of light weight (about 20 kg.) so that the floatable vehicle when folded up can be transported as luggage.
The floatable vehicle, although possessing greatest facility of movement is absolutely secure against overturning and founder ing. As the bag may be situated above water the boat is specially adapted to be used in cold seasons. Owing to the low weight and further owing to the fact, that it is supported on several small surfaces and bearing points the floating vehicle moves easily and with great speed.
I claim A. collapsible boat comprising in combination two float-able bodies each composed of several elements adapted to be telescoped the one into the other, a collapsible frame for securing said float-able bodies in the position of use, and a bag suspended in said frame the floatable bodies serving when the boat is collapsed for storing all the other elements of the boat.
