This invention relates to a combined radio loud speaker and lamp. An important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which hides from view the awkward and top heavy appearance of the ordinary regular loud speaker horn and within which the radio loud speaker may be readily'inse'rted.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be very readily and cheaply constructed and at the same time be neat in appearance and durable in service.

Referring now more Jparticularly to the drawings, in the productionof the combined unit, l provide a rectangular cabinet 10 comprising top and side walls 11 and 12 secured to one another and a removable bottom structure 13 preferably'of greater size than the casing and socketed,` as at 14, to receive the casing in its upper face. The lower edge of one side wall of the casing is formed with a notch 15 of greater depth than the socketlfl of the base for a purpose presently to appear. The loud speaker employed may be of A,that type having the loudspeaker unit 20 thereof rigidly secured to the horn and in the top of the rectangular casing 10 which forms a base for the completed unit, an opening 21 is formed of greater size than the loud speaker unit. An upwardly tapering neck structure 22 is provided having its lower end of greater diameter than the opening 21 so that it may rest upon the upper surface of the casing 10 about-this opening and conceal the same. The upper end of this neck is reduced so that it isbut slightly greater in internal diameter than the diameter of the loud speaker unit 20 which is employed and ,has engaged therewith a metallic cap 23. Axially of the upper wall of this cap, a stud 24 is threaded therethrough and this threaded' stud projects suficiently on. the under surface of this wall to enable the same to be engaged with the base 25 of the loud speaker unit so that the loud speaker unit is supported. The upper end of'this stud has a threaded ornamental nut 26 adapted to hold in position a lampshade 27, which shade has preferably coiled therein a radio receiving loop 28. rl`he metallic cap has secured thereto a plurality of outlets 29, each supporting a socket 30 for an illuminating element 31. p

ln assembhng the device, theiloud `speaker -is entered through the open bottom of the casing 10 to which the device has not yet been applied and the units thereof projected through the opening 21. The neck 22 '1s then placed in position over ,the unit and finally the cap 23 applied and secured to the unit. The cords 32, 33 of the loud speaker unit and sockets are drawn through the bottom and placed within the notch 15 and the base then applied. When the cap is secured to the loud speaker unit, the bell 17 of the loud speakeris held in opposition to the openings 16, as illustrated. The lamp-shade is then placed in position and secured by means of the nut 26. lt will be obvious that since the unit may be ver readily assembled and will provide for t e loud s eaker a steady support hiding the unsig tly top heavy appearance thereof and without in any manner interfering. with its proper eration.
