E. H. CLARK RAZOR BLADE AND HOLDER Filed June 27 1 22 Patented Apr. 27, .1926.
UNITED STATES ELIZABETH H. CLARK, OF MANGUM, OKLAHOMA.
' RAZOR BLADE AND HOLDER.
Application filed J'une27, 1922. Serial No. 571,320.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that ELIZABETH H. CLARK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Mangum, county of Greer, and State of Oklahoma, has invented new and useful Improvements in Razor Blades and Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a razor-blade, guard, holder, and so forth, for the special purpose of use for removing hair from the curvature portions of the body, especially, is the invention primarily designed for removing hair from within the arm-pit.
The uses, of course, to which the invention may be put are numerous, and therefore, a detail of such uses need not be discussed here.'
Objects of the invention. in addition tothose mentioned, will readily appear on reading the following v description, and claims, and especially in connection with the drawing.
Onthe drawing,
Fig. 1 is an elevation of the handle.-
Fig. 2 is a plan of the blade holder.
Figs. 3 and 4 are edge and end elevations of the holder, respectively.
Figs. 5, 6, 7 and 8 are plans and elevations of different styles of blades.
Figs. 9, 10, 11 and 12 are sections and elevations of a variety of guardsadapted to be inserted in the holder, each with its blade of corresponding contour.
Figs. 13, 14, 15 and 16 are-plans and elevations of a variety of combined guard and blade holder structure.
In these views, similar characters of reference indicate similar parts.
A holder a, is constituted of bifurcated stock, the two tines 7) and 0 of which are adapted to receive an insertable blade (1, and a guard e, with the usual fingers f.
This stock, ineach tine is provided with screw-threaded openings 9 and h which are axially angularly related, and one passing through an integral biishing as seen on the drawing.
A handle 3', is provided with a screwthreaded bearing is, which after passing through either of the selected screw-threaded openings -g, or It, bears frictionally against the blade and guard for holding the same in place.
When the handle is-in the screw-threaded opening 9, the blade'a-nd guard will then be substantially at right angles to the handle, while when the handle is in the screwthreaded opening it, the blade and guard will be at an acute angle to the said handle. These adjustment-positions will fill the needs, at will, 0f the device, with reference to the part of the body which it is desired to shave.
The contour of the blade-edge Z, will be an important feature of the invention, es-
pecially with reference to use in connection with deeply depressed or curved portions of the body, and will be useful both in ordinary body care, and surgical work, and. within the reasoning of this invention. it will follow, of course, that the blade contour may be of any desirable character. either substantially hemi-spherical, oval, elliptical or other- WiSe, and, of course, in this connection, the
guard will be correspondingly formed.
Two shapes of blades, usable in combination with, the holder are manifested on the figures, it will be seen that -with the use of either shape a'correspondingly shaped integral holder and guard.
drawing, and by reference to the lowermost Having thus described this invention l claim:
1. -A razor comprising a holder adapted to: support ablade, said holderliaving tines or legs disposed in parallel spaced relation.
said legs having oppositely disposed thread-= ed openings having their axes'at an obtuse angle to each other wherebv the handle mav be secured in position at different angles to the plane of the blade.
2. A razor comprising a holder, said holder having tines or legs disposed in substantially parallel spaced relation. said legs having oppositely disposed threaded openings having their axes at an obtuse angle to each other whereby the handle mav he sccured in position on the holder at different angles thereto in combination with a blade and guard having correspondingly curv d edges, said blade and guard being detachably mounted inthe holder.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
ELIZABETH H. CLARK.
