Be it known that I, EUGENE M; PLETOHER, a citizen of the' United States, residing `in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Inhaler, of which the following is a specification.

My inventlon relates to an inhaler adapted to be inserted into and retained in'the nostrils, and supply'a medicament to the latter i for the treatment of a cold, catarrlnliay fever, asthma, infiuenza, etc., the inhaler being formed with cups or pockets in which the medicament is contained so that the medicamentV is thoroughly effective by continuous vaporization for the treatment as above. l

The present invention is an'improvement over that shown in the Letters Patent No. 1,231,787, granted to me July' 3, 1917,' and is designed to remove the outer ends of the medicament in said patent from contact with the' membrane or lining of the nose and present in the present device the smooth eXterior sides of the cups to said membrane, thus avoiding cl'iafingV or Cutting of the lat'- ter, and causing the continuous vaporization as above stated.l The invention is satisfactorily illustrated lin the accompanying drawing, but the important instrumentalities thereof may lbe varied, and so it is to Vbe understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details shown and described, as long as they are within the spiritor scope of the claim. V

The cartridges are inserted into the cups throughv the open bottoms of the latter and pressed upwardly thereinto, and owing to small slots being formed in the walls of the cups said walls are rendered resilient so as to exert pressurev on theV cartridges and so take firm hold ofthe same and prevent them.

As the cups are now charged with the medicament the device is inserted upwardly in the nostrils when the resilient bow engages' the sides of the septum of the nose and owing to its resiliency it will'frictionally take hold of said septum and so retain thev device in the nostrils. The medicament of the cartridges will now vaporize continuously in the nostrils the vapor. then entering lthe same and so reaching desirecl places whereby it will cause elfective remedial `treatment of the ailments above enumerated.

Attention is drawn'to the fact that'the cups rise from the upper ends of the how and theyV have the walls of their outerv sides 41-. extend in vertical direction and saidv sidesare'in themain smooth without liability to injure the membranes of the nostrils.
