Be it known that we, Joserir Katrina and lenny KNsTLron, first named a citizen ot ll. Si. and second named a citizen oi.' no country, residing at N ew York, in the county ot New York and State ot New York, have invented certain new and useiul improvements in a Thermostat, of which the 'Following is a specification.
This invention appertains to alarms or signals and the primary object of the invention is to provide an improved device, tor giving an alarm automatically when the temperature ot the building or room in which 'the device is situated exceeds a predetermined amount or value.
Another object of the invention is the pros lvision ot a tire alarm or signal embodying a casing having mounted therein a stationary contact and a weighted movable contact, the weighted movable contact being normally held in a raised position in spaced relation to the rigid contact by a fusible pin, which is adapted to melt at a predetermined temperature, thereby permitting the weighted contact to 'fall in engagement with the stationary contact and thus close a suitable alarm circuit.
A. further object ot' the invention is the provision ot a test circuit for the improved tire alarm or signal whereby the working condition of the system can be found with a minimum amount of time and labor.
A still further object of the invention is to provide an improved device oit the above character, which will be durable and eliicient in use, one that will be simple and easy to manufacture and one which can be placed upon the market at a small cost.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and :formation of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which drawings:

Figure 2 is a longitudinal section through the same taken on the line 2 2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a transverse section through the device taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1, and
Figure i is a diagrammatic view showing the circuit of the improved device.

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein similar reference characters desi@ nato corresponding parts throughout the :several views, the letter A lgenerally indicates the improved device, which comprises a easing 5, which can be formed of any desired material and this casing 5 includes a front and rear wall G and 7, a top and bottoni wall 8 and 9, and an end rigid wall 10. The opposite end or' the casing is closed b v a hinged door 11. which can be maintained .in its closed condition by a suitable lock 12. ltoclably mounted within the casing upon a siiitable bolt or pin 13, is a contact lever 14. This bolt or pivot pin 13 is secured to a suitable block oi insulation or tireproot material, such as asbestos 15. This block l5 can be held in place by a suitable machine screws 1G which are adapted to extend through the block into lugs 17 :lormed ou the rear wall 7. The end of the lever opposite to the pivoted end thereof is provided with an enlargement 1S which constitutes a weight for normally urging said lever 11k down Vf'ardly toward a rigid contact bracket 19. This bracket 19 is secured to the block 15 and is oitl an angle shape in side elevation. The terminal ot the lever 1d adjacent to the pivot bolt or pin 13 has connected therewith by the use oi a suitable screw or the like 20 a line wire 21, while the bracket 19 has Siecured thereto by the use of a suitable screw 2Q or the like a line wire 23. The line wire 21 is connected to one pole of a suitable battery Q44, which can consist of one or more dry cells, and the line wire 23 is connected to the other end of this battery. The line wire n3 has interposed in the length thereof a suitable signalling device such as an alarm bell 25 or a siren horn. Y
In order to hold the lever 14 in a raised position above the angle bracket contact 19, a socket 26 is carried by the weighted end of the lever, which is adapted to receive a soft fusible metal or alloy pin 2T which can be inserted into the socket 26 through a suitable opening in the front wall 6 of the casing 5.
lt is obvious that when the pin is subliected to heat above a predetermined value, that the pin will melt and thus permit locking of the lever 14rin engagement with the angle contact bracket 19 and thus close the circuit through the bell 25 or siren horn and the sounding of the bell or the horn will indicate to persons that the house is on lire.
It so desired a second rigid Contact 28 can be provided and this Contact is Carried by the block l5 and when the lever' is in its raised position the saine will be in en- `sagement there vvith. rl'his rigid Contact 28 has electrically connected thereto a 'te-ed wire 29 which is connected with the line Wire Q3. This Wire 23 has interposed in the length thereo't' a small indicating limp 30 and in advance of the lamp a single 'throw switch 3l. ltv is obvious thatwvhen the switch 3l is in its closed position and the lever 'l-lin its raised position, that the circuit can he tested to see it the battery Q4; 'is in proper workingcondition. lt can be seen oit course that it the lamp gives its usual light that the battery is in proper condition.
From the 'foregoing description7 it can be seen that We have provided an improved device of simple and durable construction tor giving` an alarm in ease ot fire.
Changes in details may be made without departing from the spirit or the sope ot this invention.
