P. D. YANKOFF SADIRON Filed NOV. 25 1922 Patented Feb. i6, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT, OFFICE.
PETER D. YANKOFF, OF FORT SMITH, ARKANSAS.
SADIRON.
Application led November 25, 1922.
To all/1071.011@ t muy concer/z.:
Be it known that l, Perm: l). Yimnorr, a subject el' the King; ot' Bulgaria, residing at Fort Smith., in the county ot Sebastian and State of Arkansas, have invented a new and useful Sadiron, of which the following is a specilication. i
This invention relates to sad irons and has tor its primary object to provide a novel lamp support to be mounted on the iron and placed in circuit with 4the electric energy passing,` through the iron, indicating` when the energy to the iron has been cut olii.
Another objectl et the invention is` to provide an attachmentwhich may be readily and easily applied to the usual electric iron noiv in use, eliminating the necessityT ofl making alterations in the construction of the iron to accomplish the positioning` of the device.
A still further object ot' the invention is the provision ot means to permit the attachment to be applied to irons ot various sizes, suitable adjusting mea s for accomplishing this result, being' provided.
With the foregoing and other objects in *view which Will Vappear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter de scribed and claimed, it being' understood .that changes in the precise embodiment of the'invention herein disclosed, may be made Within the scope of What is claimed, without departing' from the spirit of the invention.
'Referring to the drawing: Figure l is a Side elevational view ot an iron supplied with the attachment.
Figure 2 is a 'ragmental elevational vieiv disclosing the manner of securing the light support. y
Figure 8 is a sectional vieu1 taken on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Reterringrr to the drawing` in detail, the reference character 5 designates the body portion of the sad iron which is supplied with electric heating elements not shown, which are in circuit With a suitable source ot electric supply and through the Wires 6.
The reference character 7 indicates the supper Serial No. 603,216.
supporting arms that support the handle 8, b v means et' which the iron is operated. As shown. these arms taper towards their upper ends so that the socket supportinglmember 9, that is formed with hook members l() may embrace portions ot the arm and create a vrede'ing action between the arm supporting` the same and the socket supporting member Si to secure the socket supportingV member in position.
This socket supporting` member is termed with a circular portion ll to accommodate the lamp socket 12 in which the hull) 13 is positioned.
guard le Vforms` a part of the socket ne member and overlies the bulb to protect the hand of the operator from the heat et the bulb.
it is to he understood that the wires leadingr to the lamp 121% are in circuit with the Wires so that when the electric energy has been turned on to the iron, the lamp will he lighted.
Thus it will he seen that when the electric energy has been turned on to cause the heat ing' elements oli the iron to be heated, the lamp i3 1will be lighted, to the end that the operator maj.7 determine at a glance, whether or not the electric current is turned on, thereby eliminating' any possibility ot' the person leaving' the iron uhile the same is in circuit with its source oi. electric supply.
l'd'vhat is claimed as new isz- In combination With the inclined edges of the supporting; arms of a sad iron handle. a supporting' memher including a circular lamp receivingptn-tion` hook members eX- tending' laterally "from the circular lamp receiving' portion, and adapted to grip the side edges et an arm ot' the handle support, and an upwardly and down *ardly curved guard section formed integral With the circular portion and adapted to lie in close proximity to a lamp positioned in the circular receiving' section.
in testimonir that I claim the foregoing` as my own, I have hereto a'tiixed my signature.
