TIMEPIECE.
Application filed March 12, 1925.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NILs P. WALTERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Madison, in the county of Lee and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Timepiece, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has reference to time pieces such as clocks or the like, the object of the invention being to provide a novel form of time piece wherein the dial revolves and the hand remains stationary.
An important object of the invention is to provide a time piece that will embody comparatively few parts and one wherein it is possible to determine time, by the use of a dial and single hand.
Vith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Figure 1 is a front elevational view of a time piece constructed in accordance with the. present invention.

Figure 3 is a fragmental elevational view of one edge of the dial supporting disk.
Figure 4 is an elevational View a part of the gear casing being broken away.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 indicates the support for the time piece, which may be in the form of a bar.
Supported at the upper end of the sup port 5 and extending laterally therefrom, is a shaft 6 on which the disk 7 is mounted, the disk acting as a support for the dial 8 on which are formed spaced lines 5 extending appreciable distances from the edge of the dial and dividing the dial into spaces in dicating hours of the day. The spaces between the large numbers are divided by lines 6 shorter than the firstmentioned lines dividing the spaces into minutes, the last mentioned lines being arranged in step-like formation and varying in length to a line intermediate the lines 5. Mounted on the support 5 and disposed under the disk '7 is a gear casing indicated at 10 and in which suitable clock gearing not shown is housed, the gearing being such as to operate the shaft 12 at a predetermined speed.
Mounted on the shaft 12 is a pulley 18, the periphery of the pulley being provided with teeth let which are bent laterally and arranged in staggered relation with respect to each other providing a groove for the reception of the flexible member 15 that is shown as passing thereover.
The periphery of the disk 7 also embodies a plurality of teeth 16 that are also bent laterally and arranged in staggered relation with each other providing a groove to receive the flexible member 15 so that movement of the disk 13 is transmitted to the disk 7.
The reference character 17 indicates a hand that is secured to the support 5 so that the head thereof will extend in proximity to the numbers on the dial to the end that by observing the position of numbers on the dial with respect to the hand 17, it will be possible to determine time.
Vhen the dial has moved to a position as indicated by Figure 1, the time is twelve oclock and as the dial moves in an anticlockwise direction so that the numeral 5 at the left of the hand 17, falls opposite the end of the hand 17, the time will be five minutes after twelve. As the dial continues to rotate, certain numbers will fall opposite the indicating hand indicating the time of the day.
I claim In a time piece, a dial having lines formed thereon, the lines extending inwardly from the edge thereof and terminating appreciable distances from the edge, the spaces between the lines indicating hours of the day, said 100 dial having lines shorter than the first mentioned lines dividing the spaces between the first mentioned lines into spaces indicating minutes, the last mentioned lines varying in length, and having their inner ends arranged in step-like; relationwith respectto each other and varying in 1engths to lines intermediate the first mentioned lines, an indieating hand cooperating with the dial to indicate time, and means for rotatingrthe dial.
