To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 'MAR'rrN TATOSIAN, a

citizen of the United States, and resident of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of'Connecticut, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in games and the object of the invention is to provide a portable game apparatus which may be played with marbles or balls and positioned upon a table or other means and designed to be played by one or more persons.

A further object of the invention is to provide a series of pockets, in the lower portion of the device, represented by numbers and into which the balls are designed to roll.

The game board is further provided with means which serves to retard and deflect the movement of the balls after being played, and on their way to the respective pockets in the lower section of the device.

With these and other objects in View the invention resides and consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangements of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction within the scope of the claim may be resorted to without departure from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Referring in detail to the characters of reference marked upon the drawings 11 represents the base portion of the game board and 12 an inclined portion which extends upward at an angle of about 15 from oneedge portion of the base member, the two a said boards 11 and 12 being securely fas- Qtened together along their adjoining edge portions; A sheet; metal band 13 is secured to the outer edge of the base member 11 and projects upward above the surface thereof in a- Way to form a flange which serves to retain the balls upon the board and to better insure them becoming positioned in one of the several pockets provided for that purpose. The inclined member 12 is also provided with a metallic band desig nated as 14 and secured to the edge of the inclined board in any suitable manner as for instance by means of nails as indicated. An opening 15 is provided in the upper portion of the projected flange of the band 1 1 through which the balls are inserted as in the act of playing the game. An extended lip may be provided as shown around the hole 15 to support and guide the balls into the hole when released at that point.

The inclined board member 12 is provided with a series of pins 16 which are seated therein and project at a right angle therefrom to serve as obstructions against which 4 the balls roll in their descent and travel from the opening 15 to the surface and pockets of'the base board 11. These pins are positioned at suitable distance apart and in relative staggered relation so that a ball cannot fall farther than the distance from one pin to another without engaging a pin which deflects its line of travel so as to render it uncertain as to the course which it will pursue and the particular pocket in the base board which it will ultimately fill.

The base board is provided with a series of pockets 16 preferably arranged in rows and designated by dilferent numbers as 5, 10, 15, 20 etc. and are for the purpose of receiving the balls as they are played through the hole 15 at the top.

The game may be played by one or more persons, each being provided with a like number of balls which are inserted one by one through the hole 15 and allowed to travel down between the pins and into one of the pockets, the player being credited by the number of the pocket into which the ball is ultimately seated. After the balls are all played, the numbers of the pockets occupied by the balls of one player are added together and the numbers of the pockets filled by the other player are similarly added and the one who has the highest total amount is adjudged to be the winner.

Having thus described my invention, What I claimand desire to secure by Letters Pat ent is A game apparatus of the class described, comprising a horizontally disposed base member having a series of pockets positioned therein, a connected inclined member disposed at an angle With relation to the base member, a flange extending around Itheedge portion or both said base and inclined member, a series of pins positioned in the inclined member, and balls to .be released at the upper end portion of the inclined me1nber and adapted to roll down the incline between the said pins and into ,the pockets of the base, said flange having an opening at the upper portion of the inclined member, and a lip at said opening for receiving the ballsand guiding them into the opening as the game is played.
