Description

S. A. MORROW WITNESS: ATTCRNEY Dec. 8, 1925- s. A. MoRRow MOLD 2 Sheets-Shel". 2
Filed March l1S 1925 WITNESS:
Patented Dec. 8, 1925.
UNITED STAT-ES 1,564,364 PATENT OFFICE.
SCOTT A. MORROW, OF TYLER, TEXAS, ASSIGNOR OF *ONE-THIRD TO HARRY WREN, OF TYLER, TEXAS.
MOLD.
Application filed March 16, 1925. Serial No. 15,886.
To all whom t may conce/rn.'
Be it known that I. SCOTT A. Monnow, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tyler, in the county of Smith and vtate ot Texas, have invented new and uset'ul lmprovements in Molds, ot which the following is a specification.
'This invention relates to improvements in molds especially adapted for making concrete blocks, monuments and other concrete objects.
An object of the invention is the provision of a knock-down mold for this purpose which may be built in various sit/,es and shapes so as to provide in eiect an expansible and contractible mold and by means o' which the coniiguration or ornamentation ot' the molded object may be varied.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a mold which'in addition to the above and other advantages, is simple and durable in construction and may be readily set up or knocked down.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a plan view of a mold constructed in accordance with the invention and shown set up in position for use.
Figure 2 is a side view ot the same.
Figure 8 is a detail perspective view of one of the corner posts.
Referring to the drawings in detail wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates the side walls of the mold and 11 the end walls. These side and end walls may be of any size or material depending upon the object to be molded, The walls 1() are connected by corner posts 12, the latter having a detachable engagement with the side and end walls so as to permit ot the substitution of walls ot different lengths to increase or decrease the size of the mold.
The corner posts 12 are provided in their opposite ends with grooves 13. These grooves extend across the ends of the posts at right angles to one another and are adapted to removably receive tie rods 14. The ends of these rods are provided with washers 15 which, bear against the faces of the posts 12 and with nuts 16 which are adjusted to securely hold the posts in position. y
By this means the mold may be set up and the parts securely held in assembled position, or readily and conveniently diassenibled.
The posts 12 are provided with long git-udi nally disposed spaced grooves 17 which receive the edges of the walls 10 and 11 so that the latter are rigidly held in position when the mold parts are assembled. The corners ot the posts 12 are ot different configura tions. ol the post-s is concaved, another corner 19 convex, another corner 20 rightanfgular and the remaining corner 21 beveled. By reference to Figure l of the drawings it will be apparent that any of these corners may be arranged within the corners of the mold when the latter is set up and the corners ol the molded object will be formed in accordance therewith.
The invention is susceptible ot various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described the invention what is claimed is z- 1. A mold comprising side walls and end walls, corner posts detachably engaging the `edges of t-he side and end walls and for1ning corners for the mold and means connecting the corner posts to hold the mold parts in position.
2. A mold comprising side walls and end walls, corner posts detachably engaging the edges of the side and end walls and forming corners for the mold, means included in the posts to provide corners of diiierent contig uration and means for removably securing the posts in position. Y
3. A mold comprising side walls and end walls, corner posts having longitudinally disposed spaced grooves in their faces to removably receive the edges or' the side and end walls, corners of different configuration provided on the posts and adapted to be arranged within the mold when the latter is assembled and means tor removably connect ing the corner posts to hold the mold parts in position.l
In testimony whereof I ailix my signature.
SCOTT A. MOR-ROW.
